Edson Barbosa wins split-decision over Ross Pearson

source: mmamania.com

UFC 134 was already rocking before Edson Barboza and Ross Pearson ever stepped inside the cage to wage war against each other, but once they hit the Octagon, they were expected to deliver ... and big.

Barboza, a super fast Muay Thai murderer, came out swinging, with his trademark kicks and punches winging through the air at the speed of light. Pearson did the same, although his shots didn't come as quick. But they had just as much power.

You should go read up the rules before whining like a bitch in every thread"E. Judging Criteria1. Judges are required to determine the winner of a bout that goes to it's full time limit based upon the following criteria:-Clean Strikes-Effective Grappling-Octagon Control-Effective AggressivenessF. Clean Strikes1. The fighter who is landing both effective and efficient clean strikes.2. There are two ways of measuring strikes:-the total number of clean strikes landed (more efficient)-the total number of heavy strikes landed (more effective)G. The heavier striker who lands with efficiency, deserves more credit from the Judges than total number landed.1. If the striking power between the fighters was equal, then the total number landed would be used as the criteria.2. The total number of strikes landed, should be of sufficient quantity favoring a fighter, to earn a winning round."Now let me dumb it down for youclean strikes > octagon control and aggressionheavy strikes > number of strikes landedthus Ross landing 6-7 strikes more doesnt matter since Barboza landed the heavier blows and knocked him down

Ross's face gets damaged fast and not so much for Edson. thats what you guys are judging it off of.

the mian objective is to WIN at all costs. Winning thats what its all about.Again you have some biased I can tell or no offence youre judging skills are awful.Winning 1 minute of the fight doesnt win you the other 14 minutes. One knockdown doesnt score you a victory when for the rest of the duration youre backpeddling, getting outstriked and at points running away.for fuck sake there was points where Edson was running away from Ross

I dont get these insistences. What fight were you watching? Edson controlled the distance of the fight. I didn't feel that Ross landed all that much, and when he did they didn't have much on them.Edson did all the damage in that fight.

Who said reffing? I've fought many many times I have a good idea about the scoring. So if you had a clue you'd know ending a fight is the main objective in which Ross never even came close to doing..he was dropped and really damaged yes his compubox numbers were higher but the that alone doesn't win fights the one combo that put Ross down won the fight due to a very close fight and that was the deciding factor...if he hadn't. Dropped em you would have a strong case...robbery is a laughable...Ross stock went up and I wish him the best...u on the on the other hand are wrong...

I'm from the UK and I thought Edson won, nationality has nothing to with it.It was a close fight and I can see why people would give it to Pearson on aggression and strikes landed. To me it looked like Edson landed the cleaner, harder strikes. Although Pearson threw a lot, he rarely connected clean, Edson was rolling with the punches and countering effectively. Just depends on if you personally score effective striking over quantity of strikes and aggression. Fight was pretty much a toss-up, I though Pearson won the first, Edson clearly took the second and barely shaded the third. Judging seemed fair to me, one judge gave it to Pearson, two gave it two Barbosa. When a fight's that close it's just luck if the judges score it for you or not, one different judge and the decision could have gone the other way. It's pretty dumb to shout 'robbery' about such a close fight though, there was no fix or conspiracy, just different opinions on who won a close fight.

No. The criterias above are not weighted the same. Effective striking and grappling are paramount. The other criterias are only considered if the latter are inconclusive. Edson won the "effective striking" part due to greater damage, hence it is entirely irrelevant that Ross was the aggressor throughout the fight.

Ross won rounds 1 and 3 IMO. And to bust your silly little "100 % UK theory", I can guarantee you that I'm not from the UK.
