Team Arlovski turns down bout with McCorkle

by Ariel Helwani | source: mmafighting.com

ProElite is hoping to book heavyweight Andrei Arlovski for its second show, but one thing is for certain, he won't be fighting former UFC fighter Sean McCorkle.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, Arlovski's camp turned down a fight against "Big Sexy" for the organization's second show. No specific reason was given for their refusal to fight the 12-2 McCorkle.

My opinion is Arlovski's team turned it down because McCorkle is not going to stand and trade with him (smart) but would take him down and have a HUGE chance at possibly submitting him in a bout which would further reduce AA's marketability against an opponent not worth the risk. It's simply risk/reward and with the styles of both men it's too much risk and too little reward to take the fight. Standing?AA all day. On the ground? With McCorkle's size and ability there it's where he would have a shot. This isn't tucking or ducking it's no different than a boxer avoiding a southpaw with a little speed if they can ill afford risking losing the decision. It's a snub as was previously posted. Some guys are Tim Hague cutting the line. Some men get sent to another club with uglier women. Arlovski's team played club bouncer.

McCorkle is a good fighter, but to think he's even NEAR the level of Arlovski is retarded. That being said, Morecraft isn't a complete bum either.

That would have been an easy fight for Arlovski not sure why he wouldn't accept that cake walk.

I have been an Arlovski fan for years but I kind of want to see him retire more then take another fight. He has been KO'd so much the last 2 or 3 years that its scary to see him still taking fights.

Agree 100% with Helwig, shoe some respect to AA he was at one time the UFC heavyweight champ. He has been doing the fight game a long time, fighters in his position deserve respect
