Coker: Both sides want to make a deal

Scott Coker doesn't believe Ken Hershman's exit from Showtime spells the end for Strikeforce's relationship with the premium cable channel.

The Strikeforce CEO today spoke with Showtime executives following news of Hershman's departure from the network, reportedly for a job at HBO, and said the network wants to remain in the MMA business.

"There are negotiations going on to extend the deal, and I believe both sides want to make a deal," Coker told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "Both sides have indicated to me that they'd like to stay in this relationship."

Coker said the much of the same executive staff will oversee the remaining events Strikeforce owes to Showtime, which comprise three major events and three of the promotion's Challenger series through February 2012.

Selling out what he built like that really was a letdown. He didn't have to try and compete with Zuffa. Just stay out there and put on good shows. I guess Zuffa offered him the money and he took it. Now he is trying to pump life into the corpse of his former company. It's over Scott. Take the money and leave.

Coker is like a woman trying to hold on to a man that wants a divorce. The thing that bothers me the most is that I'm fairly certain he could actually kick Dana's ass, literally, and it pains me to see neutered men. When you look at their accomplishments, Coker is actually more impressive. Dana needed some high school buddies to buy a company for him to run. Dana would be bussing tables with the Ferritas. Coker on the other hand built a company from the ground up - literally. No loans from old high school buddies. No help from a casino magnate. He got his own show in stadiums. He got his own cable deal. Then he lets this guy anal probe him in the press for YEARS and does nothing. Then he lets his johnny-come-lately business partners make him sell to the very guy that been sullying his name. And now he takes an interview every couple of months "as if" he isn't working out his basement. Coker needs to fucking life coach. He has no self respect.

Is anyone else as shocked as I am that MonstersBall posted something other than "business as usual" on this thread?

Coker is a puppet now. His word isn't worth much, imho.

Coker is like a person trying to keep their friend on life support longer.

Why would Showtime pay anything for a promotion with no stars and dropping ratings?

lol at this load of crap. Strikeforce can't wait for this contract to end. Why they hell would they want a MMA promotion with no viable draws? They would be better off signing a deal with ProElite for peanuts and trying to build something from the ground up.
