Soares: Silva has four fights left, Sonnen belongs at the back of the line

In a recent SporTV Portuguese lagunage interview with Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares, Soares said that The Spider has a handful of fights left, and that Chael Sonnen should not be the first of them, at all.

"Let's see what the big boss is going to do. My opinion is that he had his chance and tapped, he should go back to the end of the line. The same thing is true with Vitor Belfort. They're great fighters, but they had their chance.

"Sonnen would make a big fight, as would Dan Henderson and Georges St-Pierre, but we should recognize that Anderson only has around 4 fights left in his career."

MMA Nation's Jonathan Snowden firmly disagrees:

Chael Sonnen has the UFC fanbase primed and ready for a great fight. It would be madness to walk away from it.

Here's an opportunity for Silva to prove that Sonnen's four round smackdown of the sport's pound for pound best at UFC 117 was indeed just a fluke.

Ed Soares has helped lessen the blow to Silva's aura of invincibility by claiming the champion was slowed by an injured rib. The truth is, I think Sonnen has the Silva camp a little scared. He manhandled the champion in their last fight - and that was before taking a year to perfect his grappling game.

As we saw against Stann, the new Sonnen isn't afraid to add slick jiu jitsu into his grinding wrestling based strategies. The resulting grappling god made Stann look helpless. Would Silva fare differently?

Well not the "whole" fight, that's why Anderson is still the champion.

It's the fact that Chael completely dominated Silva for 4 and a half rounds that earns him that title shot.Nobody came even close to doing that. Chael did that. Some Silva fans are cowards. Just like Ed.

Why would beating someone who has NEVER beaten a ranked opponent earn Chael a title shot???

Bisping shouldn't even be in the conversation, he's probably not even going to beat Miller.

I agree that Chael's a fight I would like to see. I also agree that Chael should have to earn his shot again.  He should be able to rack together a few wins before he gets another shot at Anderson.  Talking shit isn't a defining path to the MW strap.  Have sonnen fight Bisping for a number 1 contender's match.

Soares was on tv saying that since it wasn't a close decision and Sonnen tapped out.  Problem is he is trying to make it sound like anderson wouldn't have lost 50 - 44 or worse had it gone to decision.  Everyone knows Sonnen destroyed Silva the whole fight.

They are ducking Sonnen hardcore.  He really deserved an immediate rematch.  I like Silva but he is scared.
