"Big Rig" is apparently trucking on back to the U.S.

Bellator Fighting Championships CEO Bjorn Rebney today announced that Brazilian middleweight slugger Maiquel Falcao (28-4 MMA, 0-0 BFC) will soon make his debut for the promotion.

Rebney made the announcement during the Spike.com-streamed prelims of Saturday's Bellator 54 event. Falcao and his management weren't immediately available for comment.

he violated a probation that was stemmed from some idiot that slept with his wife and he saw him in a club in brazil and pounded him out. Then he left brazil while on probation to fight in the ufc and wamm0.

He had unresolved legal issues in Brazil. I could be wrong but I believe he violated probation by leaving Brazil to fight in the UFC.

Harris went 3-0 in the UFC prior to Falcao fight, I wouldn't really call him 'fringe'. If Harris was fringe then the large majority of the roster is fringe.

Interesting add, all these brazilians bellator grabs up are legit. Wish they would book Horn again.

^ might have been a ufc fringe fighter, but for his ufc debut ive never seen anyone look so composed, and determined. He looked like a real accurate striker and he was taking his time. He looked legit. No ones saying he would beat Anderson but u cant deny he looked legit in that fight. Especially for his first fight on the big staged. And then he got CUT. So odd................. A composed exciting fighter smashes an up and comer with also a lot of hype and gets cut ?

Holy shit! Falcao/Lombard is a dream fight! Can we get Paul Harris to ref just to see if one cage (or arena) can handle that much crazy?

^ I didn't compare him to Pudz. I compared him to Zaromskis(very apt comparison imo. Zaromskis ran through Sakurai, High and on and many predicted he was the man to end Gsp reign. He is now something like 0-5 in NA).I agree that Falcao is skilled and very intimidating. I also didn't mean to refer to Harris as a can(although he is mediocre. He barely beat Kaz Nak who is done now and lost to James Head who is barely hanging by a thread in the Ufc). I just think the Falcao hype is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong he's got plenty of potential but I've seen numerous people say he's the one to beat Anderson(even though he got outstruck and finished twice by Maldonado), that he could beat any mw in the world, that he's trouble for anyone and on and on. This is just ridiculous talk for someone whose best win is a fringe Ufc fighter.

Wow. Lombard vs. Falcao is a fucking crazy fight! Both those guys have a screw loose - especially Falcao. Lombard would actually look mentally normal in comparison.Falcao would have a real good shot to win the tourney. Now it would be less than 50% since he'd have to win three straight fights, though he'd be a significant favorite over everyone other than Schlemenko I believe, and I'd pick him over Schlemenko (Schlemenko is very tough but I believe would be at a skill deficit). If Falcao wins the tounrey, then Falcao vs. Lombard would I believe become the most anticipated Bellator fight to date.Of course this is assuming Falcao doesn't somehow get himself disqualified during the tourney, which is always an outside chance with a guy like him!I'd favor Lombard in that matchup because he's extremely physically durable and would be hard to finish - he has a great chin and is extremely mentally tough (he'll fight through getting gassed for instance). While Falcao has been TKOed a few times.Lombard could stand with Falcao and while Falcao has good TDD I think the judo throws would get him down. Falcao showed real good TDD against the double leg in the Harris fight but a couple fights ago he got taken down by trips a few times. And Lombard has powerful GNP. In that Neto fight Falcao also had some issues with elbows when put on his back, and Lombard's elbows are particularly nasty.Harris wasn't a can and got totally outclassed, and Falcao clearly has real good skills, as well as very fast hands. The Neto fight is available online. Falcao beats the living shit out of the guy in round 1. It's actually pretty amazing the guy didn't get KOed, he was getting tee'd off on the final minute - very tough dude, refused to go down. Falcao pulled off some very nice sweeps in both rounds.I actually do agree that he's somewhat overhyped and only has one noteworthy win, people simply are too quick to jump on a guy's bandwagon after one fight. But he is very good, and very dangerous. There's a few top 20 MWs that I'd pick Falcao to beat. Comparing him to Pudz is ridiculous, Falcao actually has serious skills.

FINALLY someone who is a legit test for Hector. I was always baffeled why Bellator didn't set up a fight with HORN v LOMBARD?Falcao is a beast. UFC should not have cut him.

yes he just got finished by an unranked 6-1 fighter. Shh don't tell anybody he looks scary and is amazing at crushing cans. So insane hype must ensue. He's basically the Brazilian Marius Zaromskis right now.
