ESPN's Jon Anik joins UFC broadcasting team

UFC president Dana White today announced that the veteran broadcaster Jon Anik, who's been the longtime host and anchor of the weekly "MMA Live" show on ESPN2, has joined the UFC broadcasting team.

Anik will commentate UFC Fight Night and The Ultimate Fighter Finale events on FX, and he'll also call the action for the live "TUF" episodes that begin airing on the cable station in 2012.

Anik, 33, is taking a full-time position with the UFC. There's no word on his possible "MMA Live" replacement.

With a busy fight schedule and the live "TUF" airings on Friday nights, the current broadcasting team of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan would have been stretched too thin.

Any idea who he will be commentating with?I'd asume he's be more of a Goldie-like role, and would need more of a play by play/analyst role ala-Rogan.I vote Bas Or Pat Miletich

I think with the next series being live and all, adding commentary is a just decision.

rogan could never slide into the kellerman role because that would mean he would have to ask relevant questions.

Anik is a weak play by play commentator, but any new addition is good because it likely means they're finally paying attention to the widespread criticism of Goldie and see the need to find a replacement
