Dana White confirms Condit next for GSP, guaranteed

Nick Diaz’s longtime manager, Cesar Gracie, recently tried to suggest his protégé should get to leapfrog back into a championship bout should he finish BJ Penn at UFC 137. UFC president Dana White offered a definitive reply, following Thursday’s press conference.

“No," White said. "Condit’s in. Condit’s sitting and waiting. [Georges St-Pierre] should be [out] six to eight weeks. He’s just gotta have some rehab on his knee. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to surgery."

"it’s not [expected to require surgery], but hopefully that’s the case. You never know what could end up happening.”

St-Pierre is aiming for a February 2012 return, hopefully during Super Bowl weekend. As long as the injury bug doesn’t rear its ugly head again, Condit will mark his next title defense.

Diaz blew his chance and it was a shot that many believe should have been Condits to begin with. Nice to see Condit keep what he has legit earned with his work in the cage.

Good for condit, more time to figure out GSP, improve his wrestling, etc.GSP coming off an injury will be vunerable to attack.

Good. Condit should have had the shot from the beginning, IMO.

Condit and Diaz are like the only fighters I can get excited about facing GSP. Sure, they likely would lose, but those guys are tough as nails and won't stop fighting. GSP would have it a hellova lot harder fighting safe against those guys, who are a threat everywhere.
