Phil Baroni wants to ride the wheels off

source: mmahq.com

“As long as I can," says 35 year old Phil Baroni, "I’m going to ride this bitch till the wheels fall off."

Always a ferociously exciting fighter, Baroni went lost four in a row in the UFC before being cut in 2005, and two ina  row before getting cut early this year. In between he fought worldwide for an astonishing nine different promotions.

The New York Badass signed with ONE FC recently and competed on their inaugural show in Singapore. losing a unanimous decision to UFC veteran Yushiyuki Yoshida.

“It was a great experience," related Baroni. "It reminded me of a cross between early UFC’s and Bushido. I think the promotion is really well run and I expect a great future for ONE FC. I have to say the promotion from top to bottom was first class. I don’t mind being the token white boy of ONE FC."

His future includes a fight on February 27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal against Guillaume de Lorenzi, where he is “going to knock the maple syrup out of some French Canadian cat.”

Baroni plans to return to ONE FC sometime after his February bout and win a championship in the promotion.

“It’s always an honor to draw crowds around the world and be known. I feel blessed to be able to do what I’m doing for a living."

TTT for a great thread. Humfrey you are missing the point. Phil fought in UFC 30. Think about that. He is from the stone age of MMA, he may not be the best ever but he brings it and at times has risen to very high levels. Always brings exciting fights. That is the point. Phil should be welcomed here with wide open arms and smiles all day, no questions asked.

I will always watch the NYBA fight, no matter where it is. The guy just brings it every time, I've never seen him in a boring fight.
