A UFC 143 heavyweight showdown between Roy Nelson and Fabricio Werdum is in tap for Super Bowl weekend, according to MMAWeekly.com sources.

Nelson’s (16-6) UFC tenure was teetering on the brink following back-to-back losses to Junior dos Santos and Frank Mir, but he bounced back strong in his most recent fight. Nelson took the fight to Mirko “Cro Cop Filipovic at UFC 137, likely ending the Croatian’s career via a third-round TKO stoppage.

Lol - keep in mind people that "grappling" for the sake of grappling is not the same thing as grappling in mma. Roy is light years better than the average bear when it comes to using his BJJ inside the cage. Oh and I'm far from a TUF noob.

Bad matchup for Werdum. Nelson is a better striker and a much better wrestler. Werdum obviously has the BJJ edge, but he won't get the chance to use it.

I don't think Roy has any real hope of finishing Werdum, he's a very durable and smart fighter. I could see Werdum outpointing Roy on the feet. I could also see Roy dropping Werdum a couple times and getting rounds that way.Can Werdum get Nelson to the ground? If so, how?
