Dana White wants Anderson Silva to close career vs GSP or Jones

by Jacoby Harms | source: revistaalfa.abril.com.br

Dana White plans call for middleweight king Anderson Silva to rest up from a shoulder injury and face the winner of Chael Sonnen-Mark Munoz in 2012. After that, however, it may all be up to Silva.

White, though, wouldn’t mind seeing the 36-year-old Brazilian finish up his career after a few more fights, including a finale bout with either UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre or light heavyweight title-holder Jon Jones.

“He’s probably the greatest fighter in history. He hasn’t lost and has been champion since 2006. I think he has two more title defenses and I do not know what he’ll do next or if he will retire,” said White, in an interview with Brazilian website Alpha. “He could end his career with a super fight against Jon Jones or Georges St. Pierre. He could end his career like that – fight in a different weight class. I would be happy with that. Then he could take a boat and sail into the sunset.”

You think Overeem can cut 60 lbs?? LOL. Thats like asking Lesnar to fight at LHW. AO was a big LHW when he was younger cutting a lot to get there... and that was 4 or 5 years ago.Its also not healthy to cut too much weight, and it will definitely affect your performance. Anderson could never cut down to ww to fight GSP, and Jones can't cut down to 185 to fight Silva. Thats why fighters have to move up to take those fights.Jones may one day fight AO, but it will be at HW. Jones himself said he won't be able to cut to 205 in a few years.

With all due respect, you've got this bass-ackwards: It's all these smaller light heavyweights who should be fighting middleweights, since they should be fighting at middleweight (and at least one of them could even make welterweight). Just the same, I'd like to see Alistair Overeem move down to light heavyweight, where he has fought countless times in the past, and fight Jones.  There's something in it for both of them: For Overeem, it will stop all the steroid innuendos; and for Jones, a dominating win over a 6-foot-5 opponent who is a heavyweight by trade will establish beyond any statistical shadow of a doubt that Jones is truly great, and not just merely big. Indeed, with this scenario in mind, I hope Overeem wins at UFC 141, and wins big.

if a fight between gsp and anderson took place my prediction is anderson would get the tko however the major problm i see with superfights is that really it doesnt prove anythingthere is a reason why anderson is champ at mw , gsp at ww and bones at lh. they are not fighting in those divisins by accident, they fight there because that is where they feel most comfortable, where they feel they get the best balance of speed , power , agility and so on. basicaly its where they perform best.by forcing gsp to fight anderson at mw or vice versa does not prove that the winner is necessarily the better fighter, it proves the winner is the better fighter at that particular weight class, if gsp 's body reacted and performed better at mw why would he be fighting at ww.p4p will always be a hypothetical argument, as exciting as a superfight be and dont get me wrong id love to see one it will never be a definitative conclusion to who the better fighter is.the only real way to find out would be have the fight at 3 different classes, mw , ww and a catchweight, but that is so unrealistic its not worth talkin about... i say let the champs do what they do best and rule their division

bones should be fighting heavyweights, not light heavyweights, let alone MIDDLEweightsdude looks a full weight division bigger than shogun, rampage, and rashad... machida's a little bigger than those three guys but jones still dwarfs him you're also talking beginning of career vs end of career, which is a retarded way to close outat least anderson only has a one inch reach advantage over GSP and there's less of an age discrepancy if GSP doesn't want to fight him then that's ok too

I swear on all that is holy if the fight with Ando goes down. I have GSP winning a UD. I'm going to bump the fuck outta this everyday until the end of time or BAN.

They say this about Fedor becasue he only defended his Pride belt twice I believe and had a ton of non title fights where he was spoon fed can after can.  The difference is Anderson is defending his title against the most worthy opponent time in and time out.  That anyone would think he's fattening up his resume with title defenses speaks loudly of how great Silva is and how thoroughly he has dominated his weight class.

Well one things certain, both Silva and Jones are FAR better than Fedor ever was, I'm sure we can all agree on that as well.Ahhh it's so nice to get along.

Realistically the GSP fight could happen next year. If GSP decides to put on weight while he is rehabbing his injury he could just leave the WW division as it is and vacate his belt and go to MW to fight Anderson.
