Overeem: I really wanted to fight Fedor

source: mmaweekly.com

Earlier this year Alistair Overeem expressed frustration at Fedor's management. He voiced respect for The Last Emepor, but characterized his management as "dickheads ... using tricks."

In a recent interview with MMAWeekly, Overeem reiterated he wanted to fight Fedor, but added Werdum to list (check) and Lesnar (will happen Friday).

"I really wanted the Fedor fight to happen," said Overeem. "I challenged him on two different occasions, before he fought Werdum and immediately after. Unfortunately the fight didn't happen, and I basically let it go. He was the one I wanted to fight.

"Other than that, I wanted to fight Werdum, and that fight hapeend, so we're good."

"I'm going to tell you which fight I wanted .. Brock. Me versus Brock was something that I heard a lot fans speak about for a long time. But of course I was not with the UFC so that fight could not happen."

"Of course after this one, when I win it, for the title."

"UFC offered me a title fight, but then I had to wait til the winner of Dos Santos Cain Velasques plus injuries that would be six months. I'm a  fighter that likes to saty active. We played around with a few names, and came up with Brock. Him and I got enthusiastic and said yes."

"I'm going to walk out of that Octagon victoriously. And have a nice after party."

If he does eventually get the belt, I hope he plans on defending it more than he has in the last 4 years. UFC wont allow him to just sit on it.

Hell, Chuck and Randy want Fedor too. Come to think of it, Both Shamrocks and Kimbo all 3 said they would come back to fight him too. Fight Brock,, Win, Call out ANYONE in the UFC and it will happen......... JDS included

Quick, someone explain to me the subtle nuanced differences between being dumb...and being stupid. If Overeem wins, great. If he does not, I want to see him fight Mir.

Does anyone know who is cornering him for this fight?

IMO, you were right the first time. He's either really dumb or really stupid. He said he hasn't studied tapes on Lesnar, and he's already got his mind on the JDS fight?... Stupid.Reminds me of Tyson before the Buster Douglas fight.

You're right I seem to have made a mistake there, I was intending to say he's either really dumb or really smart, or alternatively, he's either really clever or really stupid, but I got mixed up and wrote he's either really dumb or really stupid, and isn't it especially interesting, how me doing that makes it actually be me who is dumb and stupid!! LMAO!!!

I feel Alistair is making a lot of Melvin Guillard type statements in the leadup to this fightI wondered how much his old team used to keep his ego checkedI mean he is basically 100% confident that he will walk in there and bang Lesnar out in 5-10 minutes then have a party and start planning his title shotHe's either really dumb... or really stupid
