As of 12:00 AM EST, the UFC officially begins it's broadcast deal with FOX networks. The landmark deal, which was announced in mid-August, is for a seven year term and features UFC live and taped programming across the network's partners including FOX, FX, and FuelTV.
In November the UFC aired a special event on FOX, a single bout for the heavyweight championship between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos. The challenger was able to stop the champion Velasquez in the first round by knockout. This special event was not a part of their original agreement, but FOX wanted to show a commitment to the UFC and introduce the sport to it's fans.
Additional programming on multiple FOX networks launches immediately and includes live fights, pre and post shows, countdown shows, UFC Unleashed, UFC Primetime, the UFC Knockout series, Best of Pride, weigh-in specials, and much more.
Also, in the spring of 2012 the Ultimate Fighter, the promotion's signature reality TV show will debut on FX, featuring an new format spanning 13-weeks with live bouts, instead of a taped delayed broadcast.
