Lawler stops Amagov with spectacular flying knee

source: The Underground

Russian striker Adlan Amagov is no stranger to highlight reels, with an arsenal of spectacular kicks, strikes and throws.

But at Strikeforce 'Rockhold vs Jardine' last night, Amagov was the subject of a h--- f------ s--- finish, not the star, as Ruthless Robbie Lawler landed a flying knee followed by an atomic butt drop followed by strikes to decively end it.

The finish was all the sweeter as if came after Amagov had a point deducted earlier in the round for an illegal knee to the head of a downed Lawler.

it's not that there isn't much use for it now because nobody is in that position - more people would get into that position (to kick, knee, etc) on their downed opponent if it were legal. and compare the scrambles in Pride to the UFC. people do NOT want to hit the ground if they can catch a boot to the brow. it makes the standup so much more frantic and important as well. groundgame becomes more desperate = better to watch.

If anything hurt him, it looks like Robbie clipped him with his elbow.

Someone make a gif with a thought bubble where Greg says "hit him with your groin!!" followed by Lawler doing a flying groin strike

yeah that knee didn't land. it was lawler weight coming down on that dude head that did him in.

Honestly i cant see it helping with stagnant groundwork, 90% of the time its a situation like tyrone woodley and jordan mein, where a guy is hanging out in guard or half guard, or its just holding someone against the fence. hardly ever do i see 2 guys just lying in north south for extended periods of time in a position where the knee would do something. Id probably say upkicks from a downed opponent would probably suit to fix this more than knees to a grounded opponent.
