Dana White: Tainted supplement excuse 'full of s---'

by Michael David Smith | source: mmafighting.com

Two notable fighters, Cris Cyborg Santos and Muhammed Lawal, have tested positive or PEDs in recent weeks. In both cases the test result was attributed to unknowingly taking what was believed to be a legal supplement.

UFC President Dana White doesn't buy it.

"If you get caught doing something, admit you did it," White said. "The whole 'Somebody put something in my system that I didn't know about?' I mean, who here lets someone put s--- inside them that you don't know what it is? If you go to the doctor and he gives you a pill, 'Doc, what am I taking this for?'"

"I don't buy that s---. Own up to what you did. Listen, it's out there, it happens, and sometimes everybody makes mistakes."

"The up-and-coming guys, you're already talented, you're already fast, you're already strong, do not ruin your career by taking this junk that will affect you for the rest of your life."

"I don't buy it. Anybody that's ever said that they didn't know what's being put in their body is full of s---."

It's not a question of if it can happen, the problem is fighters taking non-approved supplements. There are lists of supplements that are certified fighters can take. Taking anything that is off theat list is your troubles

Agreed, its not like the awareness of these sort of incidents has been decreasing in the last few years. The way I figure it, you are a professional or you are not. As a professional, you are held to a higher standard, and are responsible for what you put in your body. To not do this is to roll the dice with your own career and you will ultimately reap what ye sow.

I'm tired of these excuses as well. Either they're true but it can't be proven or it's a lie; does the fighter no good either way.
