Jones to defend title April in Atlanta against Rashad Evans

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will indeed headline the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion's upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on April 21, 2012.

The rumored appearance was confirmed during the UFC on Fox 2: "Evans vs. Davis" telecast, during which "Bones" was an expert guest on the panel alongside UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Randy Couture. And as FOX broadcaster pointed out, Jones has a vested interest in the main event this evening from the United Center in Chicago, Ill., between Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis.

If "Suga" comes away with a victory, he will finally get the opportunity to settle the score with Jones once and for all, as well as reclaim his 205-pound championship. However, if "Mr. Wonderful" pulls off the upset, the picture gets a little more complicated.

He can make it a short fight though. Which is what can be expected, if he doesn't bring anything better to the table versus Jones. JJ is smart enough, that he's not going to slack as a result of Rashad's performance tonight. Another fighter might be relieved, and assume the victory, and show up unprepared (like, Tyson vs Douglas). Not Jones though. It's going to be a quick fight, and it's going to be a harsh beating for Rashad.

They've been putting on outstanding high-quality productions. I haven't noticed anything worth crying about. And they deserve a lot of credit for being bold and wise enough to jump on board with MMA. It's been a struggle for the UFC, an uphill battle to be taken seriously. Now it seems like they've finally got a partner that wants to aggressively grow the sport as much as DW and Zuffa want to grow the sport. Smart network, it's why they're the biggest. It means good things for us fans.

As much as I like DH, it's just simply dumb as hell to think he's got a realistic chance of landing that shot. To land it he has to be in range with his feet planted.Lyoto was able to land because he dives in striking. Dan isn't landing an H-Bomb on JJ. His best chance would be wrestling, and dirty boxing against the cage. It's not a great chance. After Rashad's fight tonight though, it's obvious that DH is the more worthy opponent. Rashad has got nothing to offer JJ.
