Tito Ortiz, Forrest Griffin call each other out

In fighting, it takes a great rival makes a great champion. Without Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali would not be Muhammad Ali. No Sugar Ray Robinson, no Jake LaMotta. No Micky Ward, no Arturo Gatti. You can go on forever.

MMA does not have the same history prizefighting does, but it is starting to. Tito Ortiz was a great champion. And part of that greatness was defined through rivalries.

The three fights with Ken Shamrock made him rich, and that came after an ongoing feud with the Lion's Den going 1-1 with Guy Mezger, and taking Jerry Bohlander on cuts.

Tito feuded with Chuck Liddell, losing twice.

But perhaps his greatest rivalry was with Forrest Griffin, beating him ny split decision in 2006, and then coming back in 2009 and losing a split decision. Now it is 2012, and the two want to do it one last time.

Griffin and Ortiz appeared on HDNet's "Inside MMA" and made the case, or started it.

Tito Ortiz:
"Forrest, you know I deserve it, man. Step up. Let's do this. It's an awesome fight for you. I lost my last one. You lost your last one. Let's do this -- unless your scared!"

Forrest Griffin:
"He knows better than that. You know what's funny about me and Tito? The truth is we each consider the other an easy fight. For me, that's the perfect 'get right' fight. Coming back from a bad loss and beating Tito Ortiz up? No problem. For Tito, he's thinking, 'Forrest ain't that good. He's getting old, prematurely. This is a great way to go out, with a win over Forrest!' So, I think it's a beautiful match up because we both think of the other as an easy fight."

"Wanna know how fights get done now? If enough people get on Twitter, it'll happen. If enough people get on Twitter and tell 'em that's what they want, that's what's gonna happen. It has to be done."

Bib Dylan sang "You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows." You don't need to be a matchmaker to know this fight is a win for everyone.

If you want to see this fight, tweet.

just seems like since neither of them can win any fights they resort to fighting each other cause they are two washed up fighters. I'm a forrest fan but what the fuck. We don't need a third tito and forrest fight imo.

I think they are both at the end of the road, and have earned the right to pick their last opponent... especially when their last opponent of choice happens to be each other.

I have very little interest in seeing these guys fight each other for a 3rd time. Would much rather see BOTH guys fight someone else.
