Ellenberger defeats Sanchez; both deliver Fight of the Night performance

by Michael David Smith | source: mmafighting.com

A back-and-forth 15-minute main event on Wednesday night ended in Jake Ellenberger taking a decision over Diego Sanchez in the first UFC on FUEL card.

It was an excellent fight featuring two of the sport's top welterweights, and it was a good display of both Ellenberger's great skill and Sanchez's tremendous heart. Ellenberger was the better fighter in the Octagon, but Sanchez deserves credit for making it through 15 minutes.

In the end, the judges all agreed that Ellenberger had won the first two rounds and Sanchez had won the third, and the scorecards were unanimous, 29-28.

Ellenberger walks around at around 200. He enters the cage at around 190. He is WAY bigger than Sanchez, and a lot of welterweights. His cardio suffers because of it. He's not ready for GSP, but no ond is. Anyone else in the division he has a good chance to beat. He would destroy Diaz in 2 rounds. Diaz has no defense at all. And trading punches with Jake will get anyone hurt.

Yeh he's going to have to work on his cardio if he wants to move any further up the ladder

Diego also really needs to not just rush straight in, he uses no angles and Ellenberger was laying into him every time he came in.
