Anderson Silva: Chael Sonnen is bad for the sport

source: espn.co.uk

Anderson Silva is the pound for pound best figher in MMA. Chael Sonnen is the pound for pound best ridiculer in combat sports since Muhammad Ali. Silva recently talked to ESPN radio (710 LA) about a variety of topics, including of course their upcoming recollision.

"Chael has good wrestling. The first fight, I broke my ribs, I fought with broken ribs. But that's okay, I finished the fight and I win. But this time I am ready. I am training hard, this is a different fight.

"My opinion for Chael is that this guy does not respect nothing. This time in this sport is very important. The people watching the UFC, the people that watch Chael Sonnen talking, they are like 'What? What is this sport? I don't like this sport. This guy doesn't respect nothing.'

"I understand sometimes you need to promote the fight but, I don't know. Chael talks about my people in Brazil, about my wife, about the older fighters. It's his problem, it's no good, it's no good promotion, this is a sport.

"I love my sport. I love it and I respect the older people and the older fighters of the sport. This is a great time for the sport. But Chael maybe does not understand this, his problem is he talks too much. It is no good."

I don't think trt makes you harder to knock out in the direct sence, what I mean is his ability to defend himself is going to be better as a result of the perks of having more test. He said in the post fight that he did with fighters only that bisping rocked him but he didn't show it and let's be honest andy hits harder than bisping. DefInatley agree that andy won't have the same amount of openings that he is used to.

I would expect so, yes. If the Brit can do it I'm sure Silva could.

Are you saying that TRT helps prevent knockouts? Interesting. At any rate, he's still on it, so we'll probably never see him fight without TRT. The reason I say he's hard to KO is because it's never happened, and the dude has taken some big shots. He admitted himself that Nate pretty much knocked him out in their fight, but if you watch it he kept on fighting like a zombie. Silva could probably do it, but with the pressure that Sonnen puts on him he won't have a ton of opportunities like in his typical fights where he can keep his opponent at range the entire time. Chael will at least have him in the clinch, going for the TD, etc.

^^^^^ I've seen said documentary, and it was torn cartilage. Very painful, but not as painful as a broken/bone bruised Rib. There are legal drugs he could have used to lessen the pain, but Sonnen pounded on them hard in the first round iirc. Sonnen broke one of them, hence the post-fight suspension.

I was skeptical too when the news first broke of an existing injury. I thought if he was really that injured he would have been a little more serious in the week leading up to the fight and not joking around so much if he was really in pain. Apparently there is a movie showing him going to the doctor leading up to the fight where he is diagnosed with an injured rib. I can't say how injured it was because I haven't seen the video but maybe the injury was worsened in the fight from the takedowns and the body shots when the fight hit the floor? Hopefully both fighters come in relatively healthy for this fight and Silva doesn't "limit" himself to a win only by submission so we can get a fight with limited excuses from either side...

I think anderson is full of shit on the broken rib tip.  if you've ever broken one you know there was nothing in his movement that suggested a break.  u can't fake that type of pain, or move naturally, nor would you risk your crown vs a massive shit talker in that state.  MAYBE another super warrior type might foolishly consider it (doubtful tho), but Andy will claim injury and sit out at the first sign of a mild cough, so I'm not buying it.  They're both phony, just in completely different ways

^^^^ i don't care what the fanboys say we all know that the fans of who ever looses will be on here fifteen seconds after the fight with all the butthurt crying just like every fight, saying he fought with two broken arms or the other guys coach is a cheater.i just hope its not a lay and prey snoozefest and we actually get to see andy throwin' down.in the interest of debate, what makes you say sonnen is hard to knock out? IMO he hasnt been tested W/O the roids

Possibly, yes. Sonnen's hard to KO, but Silva could be the man to do it. Or, he might lose, thence he and his fanboys will quickly come up with the next generation of excuses: Lingering shoulder surgery issues, ring-rust, he's getting too old and past his prime...etc.

after seeing Sonnen Vs. Bisping all anderson needs to worry about, is what he's going to say at the post fight P/C when Sonnen claims that he wasn't knocked out and was just having a mid-fight snooze.
