'Countdown to TUF Brazil' with Wanderlei Silva

source: ufc.com

Wanderlei Silva at Rio's XGYM discusses coaching TUF Brazil, opposite Vitor Belfort, in preparation for a rematch some 14 years after their first, explosice meeting. Belfort wants a TUF show with a message of hope and discipline, rather than one of the frequent adolsecent antics he sees in the US-based TUF.

"The big game is just starting. We just had the first broadcast on FOX. Of course, it's been good years until now, but I think that what's coming is much bigger.

"Everyone can get the opportunity, the sky is made with a lot of stars. You just have to make yours shine. Stay with the right people and the right trainers. Stay focused and keep training.

"Nowadays, when you start fighting, a lot of people come around offering you stuff. 'Let's do this! Let's go over here!' The thing is to stay focused, to study the art. To come into the gym and train. Eat well, sleep well. We depend on out bodies because on fight days, your buddies won't fight the fight for you. It will be you up there and if you lose, those guys will find someone else to suck up to."

Been a Wanderlei fan since I first saw him fight way back in Pride and as much as I'd like to see him beat Belfort, I truly believe that after this dreadful loss that is going to happen against Belfort, Wanderlei should hang up the 4 oz gloves and pass on his wealth of knowledge to younger fighters in his stable. He has nothing to prove to anyone and has accomplished more than many other fighters of his era and I'd personally like to see him retire before he gets seriously hurt/embarrassed in the UFC Octagon.

i wish MMA was this big when I was growing up, I would have been a gym rat for sure...used to work out everyday for hours at a time..wish i could have been training instead, did not know it would be like this now and i didnt have any gyms aroundthe sport is going to have a lot of stars coming up, too many for just the UFC to maintain, so other promotions will be around as well because there's just going to be way too much talent for any 1 promotion to hang on to

What's funny... Dana said they wont make money off hurting wand.. but they made this fight.. lol @ them not trying to use up every bit of a fighter before "making them retire."

This really is a pointless fight at this point. Vitor never reached the heights Wanderlei did.He got the flash TKO in 1998, Wanderlei went on to well, Be Wanderlei. haVitor was up and down so the fight never really happened because Wanderlei was #1 during the 2001-2005 time frame. This is classic UFC, make a fight that is a decade past it's due date.

I was hoping 1 day they would have a TUF show without the adolecent BS. i hope these 2 bring discipline and maturity to this season of TUF. It's long overdue imo!
