Jacare: Sonnen won't be able to take down Anderson Silva

by Guilherme Cruz | source: tatame.com

Tatame talked with former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo Jacare, about recent training partner Anderson Silva.

“I believe that if he’s in good shape no one can beat him, especially Sonnen”, Jacare told TATAME.

“Anderson has a black belt level at Jiu Jitsu. When he puts the gi on he does great. He can attack and defend himself well with no gi and, fighting MMA, no comments."

“But I believe that next time he won’t let Sonnen take him down. He has excellent takedown defense. Sonnen won’t even touch him."

Hope Silva doesn't try to test his chin for the sake of testing it like he has in the past. He's bound to get KOed one of these days if he does it too much. Kind of like Okami vs Boetsch. It seemed Okami was confident in taking those uppercuts, then gets knocked out.

please learn to use the quote shit properly, it aint that hard. Type q-u-o-t-e in brackets followed by the name and hyphen then put q-u-o-t-e in brackets again with forward slash in front of quote. By adding those stupid quotations of yours instead of the quote boxes, makes it a chore to quote your shit and respond, plus sometimes i may just scroll page to see if some one responded to me and i will miss that shit most of the time. the standup was bullshit, why do you have to pretend like it wasnt to fit your agenda? it wouldnt have made a diffence IMO, anderson wouldve ko'd him regardless, but it was bullshit and big john has been doing it for years and herb dean has been terrible lately. I have a feeling you made up those stats just like maia taking down every opponent previous to anderson fight. How did chael have anderson on his back for all 5 of the rounds with only 3 takedowns? I will have to re watch that one. I recall anderson taking chael down and chael reversing him, but that still leaves another round where he was on his back. Heres what you dont understand about dan and andersons wrestling that your stupid fight metric stats dont pick up. There is a difference between mma wrestling and wrestling. Anderson is able to defend a lot of potential takedowns with his reach alone. This is the same thing with john jones and gsp. When you have a reach on your opponent, you are able to stay outside of your opponents rage to either strike or shoot, while still in your own range to shoot or strike.(this may be a tough concept considering you've never even taken a week of free classes in any martial arts, but humor me) This is the exact reason why you see guys like jon jones, gsp and dominick cruz defend takedowns from better wrestlers. Now throw in andersons speed, footwork and the threat of strikes and it makes it even harder. Dan has better wrestling, anderson is able to disguise his weakness with the above traits. you were basing your opinion on the palhares miller fight based off sherdog calling it "a battle" and not the actual video footage? The fight was not long ago, its not like you could forget it by now, so that leaves you commenting on a fight that you never even watch. Now you claim to conveniently "misremember", LOL.

Does Jacare think Chael will be able to knock Anderson down then like he did in their last fight?

My favorite is the poster that referred to Chael's right hand and jab as his best weapon to get a takedown. Perhaps so but if you really think that Sonnen's striking worries Silva at all I'd call that delusional.Regardless this should be a great fight. I was fully in Sonnen's corner for the first fight, I was really pissed at Silva for his clowning of Maia, and wanted him to win big. And thought he would. Now I'm just so sick of Sonnen's WWF talk, though I must admit he has great mic skills and sells tix.

I wouldn't lol at this. A "normal" chael sonnen may not be able to take him down at will. A sonnen that got caught may have the power.

He does have a decent chin though, let's not deny that. Granted he rarely gets it tested but hendo landed a flush shot that would put away most humans, and Anderson laughed at it, then he roared and did a hurricane kick that caved in the roof. At least thats how I remember it. I mean, I was on acid but I'm sure thats what happened.

If you look closely he was timing Lutter's arms so he can hook one with his legs and get the reversal
