White 100% done with Strikeforce involvement

by Josh Nason | source: bloodyelbow.com

When UFC president Dana White appeared on a Strikeforce broadcast earlier this year, it was an odd moment but seemed to signify that he was taking a much deeper interest in the promotion. He said as much, claiming that he was going to look to get more control over Strikeforce with production, something he admits he's a bit obsessive about.

That apparently was nothing more than a pipe dream as on Saturday, White responded to a fan on Twitter about his role in the world's No. 2 fight promotion:

@BenShuffain @strikeforce tell Showtime, they run that shit not me. I'm out. I'm 100% UFC

He should stop being so jealous. It's so glaringly clear. It isn't a good look for him.He is right about the commentary for the most part. Pat is good. Frank is cool, but I imagine Dana hates him for other reasons. Mauro should just be interviewing people backstage and not calling fights.SF puts on such great exciting shows and generally has good match making. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. They are doing fine with production(except having Mauro). Before Zuffa bought them, all people were taking about is how much better the SF shows where.

Well thought out post by you. I applaud this. Thing is, strikeforce has been living on borrowed time since zuffa made the purchase.

Guess the meeting with the Showtime execs was not quite what Dana thought it would be.  He did a 180 but quick.

Just fold the damn thing into the UFC already. The sole purpose of Strikeforce's existence in 2012 is to prevent another MMA org from getting on Showtime.

Mauro is that voice from every terrible commercial selling some bullshit product that by the end of it is offering you 3 of said bullshit item for the price of 1. He dropped the ball in some of his post fight interviews this weekend but I'd forgive that and all of his fuck-ups if he sounded more like a real guy and less like a guy trying to sell me some magic carpet cleaner.

Bingo'd.   On another note, I feel bad for the fighters that are being shelved for such long periods.  Sooo many dudes living in obscurity.

How many fighters are left on Strikeforces roster that they can have compete on their main cards? It feels like I'm watching the same 8 people fight every few months. How many fighters do they even have on their roster now?UFC raped and pillaged them and stole all of their star fighters lil

As for the commentary and the Nazi situation.I personally do not think the commentary is that bad. It is not as good a Rogan's commentary nor is it close to the Fox commentary but it does not bother me so much that i do not want to watch anymore (and lets be honest people Goldie only sit next to Rogan because he is good at making commercial announcements....so you can always bitch and moan about the commentators if you want too). It is just different. And for all the faults of Mauro,he is a a guy who seen and called a lot of fights in the past (so he does have affection and a certain amount of knowledge). The whole Nazi debacle is pretty bad of course. Pr wise its hard to swallow since it will get ''MMA is human cockfighting crowd'' (yes unfortunately they are still around apparently) something to complain about (and Dana has to be more careful about putting Arum in his place now after this little slip up). On the other side, the guy got submitted pretty convincingly so you also might call this MMA against racism, with some imagination. The comment about the FTC thing is a little out of place though. The FTC was potentially interested in investigating Zuffa, not the UFC. Since Strikeforce was already a part of Zuffa how does the survival of Strikeforce score any ''brownie'' point for Zuffa in a potential anti-trust investigation. It more about control then anything else (i just think that Showtime wanted to pay less and did not want to give Dana the executive control he might have demanded).

What were Dana's suggestions? The production is, at the very least, acceptable. The video package of Ronda talking about her dad was incredible. Androl asks some dumb questions. Yeah so what? Strikeforce's real issue is they were stripped of nearly EVERY bankable draw on its roster. 2 of their top draws are suspended- Cyborg and King Mo. Melendez is there but has no opponents. Uncle Dana shouldn't be complaining about Showtime ruining SF. It was ruined the second Zuffa acquired it. Just burn SF to the ground. Let UFC pick up the pieces they want. Maybe put Pro Elite on SHO here and there.. let them build themselves up. Don't try to get too big too soon like SF did.
