Gustafsson decisions Silva in UFC on Fuel 2 main event

Performing in front of his hometown fans in Stockholm, the rangy Swede handled the pressure and dominated Thiago Silva for the duration of their UFC on Fuel 2 main event fight, earning a unanimous decision by scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

Using his vast reach advantage, Gustafsson kept Silva on the outside for most of the fight, and made him pay when he waded into striking range. His first round was his best round, as Gustafsson came out storming early, flooring Silva with an uppercut. He later hurt him with a flurry against the fence, and though he wasn't able to finish, the momentum carried him through the fight.

"It was bad," Silva said afterward. "I couldn't feel my legs but I did my job. I tried to push as much as I could. Alexander is a tough guy. I couldn't find the distance. He deserved the victory. What else can I say?"

Why wasn't this a 5 round fight? Was it not a main event? I gave Silva the last round. Rounds 4 and 5 would have been interesting.

Gustafsson is a good fighter but I thought he looked really awkward last night. The way he kept shaking his ass looked ridiculous. It looked like he was doing a goofy dance and his shoulders looked tense . Nowhere near as relaxed and fluis as the commentators were trying to make out.

He was 2.5 years into his career when he was matched against an NCAA D1 champ in Phil Davis, and was outgrappled by someone he was supposed to be outgrappled by. How does that have any relevance 2 years later, especially considering he now trains with Davis(and other top level fighters/trainers), and went on to win his next 2 fights after that loss by submission?

But was choked out by Phil Davis. That shows he still has a road ahead of him. Bader should be next.

Gust looked good against Silva. Perhaps a Bader and a fight against Rua or Machida would put him in line for a title fight? He's not ready for Jones, and White agrees.

Even my GF said wtf, do they hate the other guy (Silva). At one point she even yelled "stop sucking his dick already!" when they wouldn't STFU about Gus. She's marriage material
