White: We're going to fix it [TUF]

by Dann Stupp and John Morgan | source: mmajunkie.com

Right now, "TUF" is good, according to White. But give them time, and it'll be great.

So for all the naysayers out there, White has a simple message.

"We're going to fix it," he said. "I read all the [expletive] from people who have no [expletive] clue what they're talking about. We're with guys who are the best in the business. We will get this thing dialed in and make it great."

And to those who think the show has run its course? To those who think the problem isn't the format or the night of the week – but rather, the show itself?

"I've been hearing 'TUF' ran its course since season four," White said. "And here we are on season 15."

I had posted about this before but I like the TUF Brazil format better. When the fight of the week is announced, they then show highlights from the first episode when those 2 fighters fought to get into the house.I would prefer if they didn't even show the 16 fights in the first episode and just showed them throughout the season when the fighters were announced.3 fights per episode for the first 8 episodes. I'm not sure if they are saving money by doing it live, but I find it to be boring. I prefer seeing and hearing the team's and coach's reactions during the taped fights.or you could try to bring back all of the people from the first episode and redo it. I'd love to see leben, bonnar, koschek, florian, sanchez, and the rest of the gang living in the same house again. You fatherless Bastards!!!

TUF has run it's course Dana. Just admit it. There is nothing more you can do to the show, short of sexploitation, to make it interesting. And by sexploitation I mean making a female TUF and show the women in their panties or bathing suites every week like that Fight Girls show. What made the earlier TUF succeed is that they filled a need for MMA that just wasn't available at that time. There was no Bellator every week, or Fight Night every other week, or HD Net. MMA was hard to come by and then you decided to make this MMA reality show and it filled a void. There is no longer a void. MMA is everywhere, and TUF just comes off as just another MMA show, and not a very good one at that. Unless they go the sexploitation route, it's over for TUF.

The show will never win on here. The original format was drama and tons of gay behavior and people on the UG cried about it not being enough about MMA.Now the show focuses most of the time on the current fighters background, training and a fight and people are complaining about it being boring and lacking drama. I guess the Jersey Shore generation is in full effect...

I still watch the show, although I skipped a few seasons, so I guess I can't rag on it too much.I think the training should give you a better idea of what's going on in the group. I feel like when the fighters go to actually fight I have no idea who the better fighter is beyond a few statements by the coach or teammates. When the contender was on I felt like I had a way better picture of who the fighters were, how they were doing in training, where they come from, their records and who they've fought, where they are in there career, and what the tournament means to them. The best thing TUF does with the training footage is that they bring in guest coach's. I don't remember this season properly introducing the coach's training staff. That's a mistake IMO.A lot of the house is just the guys being bored in the house. Since when is watching bored people anything but boring? They need to spend more money and get these guys out doing stuff.

They will never fix it because what makes the show horrible is also what makes it a financial success.  Unqualified fighters acting like drunken idiots is why I don't watch the show anymore.  But it is unfortunately why most of the people who do watch are watching.  Best season, imo, was the comeback season.  Legit fighters, and less stupid behavior.  It was also the lowest rated season, IIRC.  What does that tell you?

to Dana.... when the idiots who dont know anything are the people who are paying your bills i would keep your opinions to your self, especialy considering the fact that reading a thread like this one could teach the person trying to cater to these people alot about them.
