TUF: Brazil episode #6 recap

source: tuftv

Vitor Belfort is in charge with a commanding 4-0 lead, an team members are confident and talking about sweeping the eight opening-round fights, though last-round pick Anistavio "Gasper" Gasparzinho feels like a forgotten member of the team.

We then quickly head to the training center for the latest fight announcement, where Vitor says he and Wanderlei have agreed to back-to-back featherweight fights (rather than following the next one with a middleweight bout). Vitor, in fact, makes special mention of Team Silva's toughness and commends specific fighters for their efforts in earlier fights, including Leonardo "Macarrao" Mafra Teixeira's from the previous week.

Vitor ultimately announces the fight, and it puts Team Vitor No. 2 pick Hugo "Wolverine" Viana against Team Wanderlei's No. 5 pick Marcos Vinicius Vina.

Hugo "Wolverine" Viana def. Marcos Vinicius Vina via unanimous decision (20-18, 20-18, 20-18)

Now with a 5-0 lead, Wanderlei and his coaches are a bit disappointed because they felt it was a winnable fight and their advice during the bout was ignored.

TUF: Brazil airs Sunday evenings in Brazil on Globo following "Big Brother." Start time of the television will vary slightly from week to week, but the stream will be on TUFtv each week at midnight, (9:00 p.m. PT). Although filmed in Portuguese, the video has English subtitles, and based on the first episodes, is compelling content regardless of your language.

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil features featherweight and middleweight fighters, with former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort and former Pride Middleweight champ Wanderlei Silva as opposing coaches.

On TUF: Brazil #5 last week, Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira defeated Leonardo “Macarrao” Mafra Teixeira via submission by guillotine choke in the second round.

Vina did a lot better in the second, but still wasn't quite aggressive enough. With about a minute left, I felt like Hugo Wolverine pulled even and then landed just enough in the last seconds to steal the round. But yeah, it was close. In addition to the tech problems with this ep and the so-so fight, the subtitles missed several blocks of dialogue. Not a good week for the show

I thought Vina should've went to a third round.

All of the other videos have been good, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. As for this episode, meh. Interesting part is how next episode Vitor not only throws the annoying kid gaspar to rony torres who is easily the best fighter on the show, gaspar and torres are friends. That's fucked.

another reason why i dont watch TUF Live. Lets also not forget that who ever wins TUF Live will be lucky to be top 30 in the UFC LW division. As for TUF Brazil anyone of those guys at 185 can be top 10 almost and almost the same for the 145ers

I like the TUF Brazil much better than the U.S version. The fighters have more heart, talk about their parents and they actually appreciete living in the house whereas here in the states it drives them crazy.Brazilians have more focus and don't whine and cry like babies.

^I wanted to rewind the fight because I looked away for a second and it reset to the beginning and won't let me fast forward to the fight, so I have to now watch the first half of the show over again.
