The UFC announced former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will battle Ryan Bader at “UFC on FOX 4.”

The organization is still trying to secure a venue to host the August 4th shindig, but the show is expected to take place somewhere in Southern California.

“The Dragon” was last seen unconscious on the Octagon canvas after getting choked out by reigning champ Jon Jones at UFC 140 in December.

Ryan Bader cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in his most recent foray to the cage.

"1. Jones2. Henderson3. Shogun4. Lyoto5. Rashad"How does that top 5 make sense? Henderson and Rua had the fight-of-the-year, a battle to the distance. Shogun wilted with nothing to offer JJ... Rashad took JJ the distance.

I never rewatched the Rampage Machida fight, but my impression was that decision wasn't as bad as the process. That is, Rampage MAY have edged Machida on points in the first two rounds, but we all knew who won the fight. And, of course, had that fight gone another round, Rampage likely wouldn't have survived. Bader's striking and defense isn't nearly as good as Rampage. Lyoto smokes him

Machida has had a tough run as of late. But he wins this. Bader wont be able to get him down and Bader just doesn't have the striking.

I want to sort of troll and say Bader, but I can't do it.  Machida all day in this matchup.  Crazier things have happened, but this just seems like a completely bad fight for Bader.

I think this is a great matchup. Basically, Lyoto's recent record is unimpressive, but in my opinion, he's still easily a top 5 fighter. My LHW top 5 looks like this:1. Jones2. Henderson3. Shogun4. Lyoto5. RashadBut, it's hard to keep Lyoto in the spotlight if you have him fight, say, Shogun again, and lose. Essentially, this fight will either prove me right - that Lyoto still is a top 5 fighter. Or it will prove me wrong. If Bader loses, he stays where he is. If he wins, with a win over Rampage and Lyoto; a loss to Jones; and a potentially flukey loss to Tito, he makes the case for moving up.
