Nate Diaz submits Jim Miller in 2nd, earns title shot at UFC on FOX 3

source: mmafighting.com

Nick Diaz was supposed to be the first brother to earn a shot at UFC gold, but instead, it might be younger brother Nate Diaz getting thrust into a shot at the championship.

The Stockton, Calif. native came into Jim Miller's home state and overwhelmed him, leading to a second-round guillotine submission win at UFC on FOX 3. It was the first time in Miller's career he has been stopped, as all of his previous losses have come via decision.

The victory sends Diaz surging up the lightweight ladder, and potentially in line to fight the Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar winner.

i just watched this fight (was gone all weekend)..-Miller was smart to attack the legs right away, like Cerrone should have. he seemed to forget about it later, though...-Goldberg kept saying that Nate and Nick fight exactly the same, but while i agree their style is similar now, i think Nate uses more tools that Nick does. prolly has to do with his height/reach advantage he has at LW, that Nick doesn't have as much at WW... Nate seems to throwing more power shots than Nick, who uses a more "pawing" style, too.-Nate clearly spend some time getting stronger for this fight...he's still a skinny guy, but he looked more muscular, and seemed to be able to push Miller around pretty easy-Nate's BJJ is friggen awesome. i don't like him or his and Nick's "thug" persona, but i have to respect their conditioning, work ehtic and ability.

Not even close. Get back to me when he racks up some wins in the major leagues against major-league competition.

I was waiting for it, a finger to the crowd at the least, but it never came. I did almost bitch slap Rogan for not letting him finish his "thank yous"

Ronda beating Gil? Damn sir, you just went full retard.Gilbert Melendez is the best lightweight in the world. And yes, he beats Henderson and Edgar.

I'm a believer too... He's one of the best. And, Frankie has obviously proved he's on another level. Henderson beating him (after leaving Pettis in the dust), puts him on that level. Nate, beating Miller, doesn't put him on that level. And, Gilbert? Good lord... Please. His last fight? I would not put money on him over Ronda, honestly.

Chandler is better too. IMO. Eddie would give Nate a fight.

Lol at Rory cutting to 155.. get serious. As for Ben and Frankie being head and shoulders above the pack.. I don't think anybody is head and shoulders above anybody at the top of that super competitive division. I do know styles make fights and bc of Diaz's unique size and skill set he poses a very unique challenge to every one he faces. After the past 2 performances he has made me a believer.
