Cormier wins HW Grand Prix; complete Strikeforce results

The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner wasn't even in the field when the tournament began.

Daniel Cormier, considered a prospect in need of more seasoning when the tourney began, announced himself as a rising power on the world scene, smashing through Josh Barnett in cruising to a five-round decision win. Two judges scored it 50-45 while the third scored it 49-46.

By the end of the one-sided fight, Barnett's face was covered in his own blood, and his right eye was black and blue.

Haha, Mir gets no love and he's from Sin City. Let's be fair, beating Barnett was great but it doesn't put him in front of Mir. Barnett is out of the top 5 after that lossJDSOVEREEMCAINMIRDCWhat's great is that this will all go to shit next weekend :-)

Cormier looked awesome.  In terms of fight prowess and the ability to beat other fighters, I have Cormier as top 5 in the world and Barnett as well.  Very impressive win.  At the moment my list looks like this: 1-4 in no specific order JDS Overeem Cain  Cormier 5. Barnett I'd love to see Josh get picked up by the UFC but getting blown out by a new comer is going to be a tough sell, especiaally when you consider his past issues with the failed drug tests.  Now I can't wait to see who's next for DC.  The UFC HW division will be getting a little bit better real soon.
