Mark Hunt out, Lavar Johnson in, vs. Stefan Struve at UFC 14

by Ariel Helwani | source:

The main card reshuffling caused by Alistair Overeems withdrawal from the event is now total - the last fight untouched - despite public lobbying for Hunt to get a title shot - is now very touched.

Mark Hunt has been forced to pull out of his UFC 146 fight against Stefan Struve, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to the fight. As a result, Struve will now face Lavar Johnson on less than two weeks' notice.

Johnson last fought just 12 days ago at UFC on FOX 3. He knocked out Pat Barry in the first round of their main card fight.

Both Struve and Johnson enter the fight riding two-fight winning streaks.

Hunt is reporting via Twitter that the withdrawal is due an injured posterior cruciate ligament, one of the four major ligaments of the knee.

Lavar is good to go.

“I heard last night there was a chance I could get this fight and I accepted right away," said Johnson. "You don’t get chances like this too much in life, so when you are lucky, you got to make the most of it. I took one week off after last fight [May 5] and then went back to the gym."

This sucks, just when I thought the card couldn't change anymore.....I'd love to see Hunt and Johnson.

This fucking sucks. But too look on the bright side, its probably a good job he didnt get the title shot, or the situation would be fucked right now.

I just hope Hunt's time off doesn't make him get fat and he stays freaking Huge.Thick.Solid.Tight.

Makes no sense because obviously training for JDS and training for Struve would be different therefor resulting in things being different. Once one fact is different the rest will follow in them being different. make sense?

Fuck! I guess it can't be both ways. Fat Samoan = Fight any time anyone anywhere. In Shape Samoan = injured. I was looking forward to seeing a MH that could throw for an extended period of time. Oh well, LaVar is a good fill in.
