Konrad retains title, Hawn wins LW tourney; complete Bellator 70 results

Rick Hawn will be the first challenger for new Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler.

The former U.S. judo Olympian capped off his run through Bellator's lightweight tournament, defeating Brent Weedman by unanimous decision at Bellator 70. One judge scored the fight 30-27 while the other two saw it 29-28.

"I'm excited," Hawn said. "Chandler I know you're home watching. I'm coming for you. I'm taking that belt."

Konrad not surprisingly took Prindle down within the first 20 seconds of the fight. But as Prindle tried to keep an underhook from the bottom, Konrad secured the arm and Prindle yelled in agony, causing the referee to stop the bout.

The victory marked his first successful title defense after winning the belt in October 2010. It was only the second finish in seven Bellator fights for Konrad, but looking at it another way, he's finished two of his last three opponents.

No reason it won't happen in the future. Cole is 28, Daniel is 33. Bellator won't be able to keep Cole once his contract expires. Bellator doesn't need to keep their champs. Thier model is based on finding and building new champs. Cole should be in the UFC in two years or so when his contract is up. Just like Eddie and Hector.

Yeah, I used to really hate him but he has been working hard to improve. It really shows and he looks to be learning fast. I can't wait for his next fight. I hope Bellator can get him a good opponent. It will never happen but i wish they would do Konrad vs Cormier

I agree 100%, that was a terrible standup and most likely cost Riggs the fight.I know favoritism is basically impossible with reffing, but it sure felt like it

That Riggs/Tiller reffing was terrible... Not so much for the stoppage, but that 1st round standup... that wasn't 1/2 guard or anything. Riggs essentially had side control and Tiller's torso was twisted.
