Coach: Velasquez healthy, ready for JDS at UFC 152

by Ariel Helwani | source:

Dos Santos' jiu-jitsu coach, Yuri Carlton, told (via Fighters Only) recently that due to Velasquez's broken hand, the heavyweight title rematch will probably happen in December. However, Javier Mendez, Velasquez's head coach at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif., told on Wednesday that Velasquez's hand is 100 percent healthy and he is already training for the rematch.

"We're looking at Sept. 22 as fight day," Mendez said

Mendez hypothesized that Carlton misread the post-UFC 146 medical suspension list, which stated that if Velasquez's left hand was broken, he would be medically suspended until Nov. 20. Fortunately, x-rays later showed that Velasquez didn't break his hand in his win over Antonio Silva on May 26.

Like Cain and all but giving him a shot so soon is bad.

If Cain can survive for 2 rounds he can win... nobody in the HW division can keep up with Cains pace and cardio in a 5 round fight.

JDS fought like he was desperate as soon as the bell rang. Seeing that's NEVER how he fights, i see why it took the mexican off guard. Great game plan. Won't work again. Jds is the luckiest puncher to ever throw. Not a mixed martial artist imo, he's a puncher.

Cain is gonna get the Urijah Faber treatment.  He'll get as many title shots as necessary to get him the belt. Zuffa wants to get into mexico.

People still havnt realized that matchups make fights. Even if cain loses to jds again... so what?? i dont think jds is going to be this impossible guy to beat. and when jr meets his horrible match (alistar imo) cain will be right there waiting for the next guy to get his strap back. not every division will turn into ww and mw

JDS must be loving this. He already knows he only has to get his hands on Cain once to finish him. It's way too soon for this rematch, JDS KO's him again in round 1 and Cain is stuck in heavyweight purgatory for years.
