Paul Daley signs with Bellator

by Mike Chiappetta | source: mmafighting.com

Bellator continued its aggressive plunge into the free agent pool, signing UFC and Strikeforce veteran Paul Daley.

The promotion confirmed the addition of the British knockout artist to MMA Fighting on Friday.

Daley will make his organizational debut at Bellator 72 on July 20.

"I’ve been a 'Semtex' fan for years," Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said in a statement. "He’s an incredibly explosive fighter who is magic to watch inside the cage. So, when the opportunity presented itself to join forces with Paul, it was a simple decision to make. Paul’s one of those fighters I’ve always intentionally stayed home to watch and now I can watch him cageside at Bellator."

You're one of the geniuses who believe they'd risk bringing down their whole company by fixing fights so they'd get a not so marketable champ (who btw the way they've since distanced themselves from) of their lightly used women's division?

So, you're saying Bellator fixed the judging? Bellator would have been way better off with fujii or aguilar as champ.

a couple things about lyman good: -he and daley were supposed to fight in elitexc, but then seth petruzelli killed kimbo and that was that.-askren beat a healthy lyman good, but right before the hawn fight lyman got the flu so bad that he was on cipro and was unable to train. AND i still think that was a bad decision that should've gone to lyman.-don't quote me on this, but i think lyman just had work done on his knees, so he's coming off that.all that said, daley vs. good would rock, especially as a non-title "superfight-ish" main event - which is something bellator should be doing a lot more of with these "name" fighters they sign.

by the way, I think part of the problem with daley is the UFC tried their hardest to make him a champion. like bisping and hardy. but hand picking fights then giving guys undeserved title shots backfires every time with those UK fighters. none of them are good enough to be champs, as is displayed in that none of them have ever won a ufc belt.so people dislike the false hype and get pissed at the fighter. it's not hard to figure out
