Jose Aldo targeting October return

by Ariel Helwani | source:

According to Andre Pederneiras, Aldo's manager and trainer at Nova Uniao in Brazil, the UFC featherweight champion is hoping to return to action in October following a left leg injury. Pederneiras recently told that Aldo will not require surgery on the left leg he injured in training, which forced him to pull out of his UFC 149 title fight against Erik Koch two weeks ago.

Aldo is currently undergoing physical therapy in Brazil and will meet with a doctor next week to reevaluate the leg.

This. Hard to straight-up take a title shot away from dudes not named Anthony Pettis.

Every fight he's been in hasn't been against a striker of Aldo's caliber. In the striking department against all three of those guys, I will always give Aldo the edge. As far as their ground games go, I believe TKZ and Poirier have much more to offer than Koch.Koch is growing as a fighter still, which is why I hate to see him fighting for the belt so soon.

yes but striking with Francisco Rivera, Reuban Duran and Jameel Moussah is nothing compared to striking with Aldo. Aldo is probably the 2nd best striker in the sport.I agree that Koch would put up a better fight than Hioki or Zombie who I think get murdered by Aldo but the thing is Hioki and Zombie have beaten far better competition.Plus the Korean Zombie is injured anyways.

Koch poses a much bigger threat to Aldo than TKZ, Hioki, or Dustin. Erik will stand and bang with Aldo and any fight that Koch has traded and not been smothered, he's come out the victor in incredible fashion.

Oh, I didn't know they turned it down. Makes sense why they fought each other now :pTo be honest, TKZ and Poirier had the more impressive performances compared to Koch, who was coming off a lackluster win over Brookins. Hioki/Aldo made more sense than Koch/Aldo in my mind.

Would be awesome if they announce TKZ v Koch for the final log fight for 149 in july. The timing would work out pretty well for the winner of that to fight AldoLikely won't happen as zombie seems out with shoulder but would be pure and total greatness if it did
