Tito Ortiz: Allowing TRT is sending the wrong message

source: InsideMMA

"Yes, that's correct. I feel bad. This sport's gonna so far in such a short amount of time. I hope this doesn't become an epidemic, you know? What type of message are we trying to send to the youths that are watching our sport? If you're doing performance enhancing drugs, this is the same thing we've been trying to stop from happening. All of a sudden, in the last six months, it's legal to do?"

"You're allowed to be six times over an average? You're gonna be six times over a normal person? Let's play on an even field. I mean, since day one that I've been competing, I've always been on an even field. Why, all of a sudden, can a fighter be higher, six times the amount of an average person? I think we're sending the wrong message out to fans and to the kids who wanna be UFC fighters and mixed martial arts fighters. If they're not able to compete on an even field, now they're able to use some kind of supplement to enhance them to become on a higher level. They're able to push themselves, able to recover faster, able to push themselves harder during the fight.

Now, what happens to their mind? What happens to their body? Now I look at it, I look at the way Forrest reacted after the fight, now I know why he reacted the way he did. So, it's just too bad that this epidemic is starting to happen."

Ridiculous weight cutting and hyper-hydration are bigger jokes than HRT/TRT. Solve that one first, then I might be open to listening to arguments about HRT/TRT restriction.

Maybe Tito doesnt want to end his fighting career and its his way of staying in the lime light by taking this stance but he picked the wrong battle because nobody will take him seriously. Dont throw stones when u live in a glass house.

I doubt Tito did it his whole career, perhaps at time he needed a little helping hand but dont we all at times. I think he is just trying to make a moral stand here before things go too far and everyone starts using it so taking away the advantage of those who do now.. Hes not asking for a level playing field as such, more of a swamp on a hill, next to a valley.

Pretty unprofessional is a guy talking down to his colleagues speaking out on something imo he did his whole career. Its actually disgusting that instead of accepting he is 1-7-1 in his last 9 fights and everybody gets old, that he will blame shift to make a poor attempt to save face. Gross.

I understand that 6:1 ratio relates to epistestosterone levels. Here's what confuses me: is the test sophisticated enough to tell the difference between someone who is using TRT responsibly and a person who simply has six times the amount of testosterone in their system?

^First person in this thread who has demonstrated having any knowledge regarding T/E ratios and what they truly represent. Everyone else is simply speculating on what they think it means. Educate before speaking and you won't come off as such an ignorant individual.
