UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has won 15 straight fights in the UFC, taking the record for title defenses (ten) and longest reign (over 2,100 days).
And now he is taking a break.
"Anderson said he wants to take some time off until after the end of this year, and then we'll start talking to him," UFC president Dana White said. "Anderson is going to fight after the end of the year."
A likely next fight is undefeated Chris Weidman. However, Silva's camp has been vocal about hopes for a super fight with welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
"They can be as vocal as they want to be," White said. "Whatever the fight is, the fight is. But we haven't decided anything."
"(Weidman is) in a great spot. The kid looked fanastic He demolished – demolished – the No. 3 guy (in the division) in spectacular fashion. He has the right to call out whoever he wants."
