Not only has this screwed over all the fans that bought tickets, non refundable airfare, took off work, made arrangements, etc... but think of all the fighters. Fighters that put in full camps, flew people in that helped them trains, etc. By the time I am actually fight, I spend close to 20k between corners, flights, expenses, coaches, etc... and then to have the whole show cancelled because ONE guy didn't want to fight. This ONE guy that had trained an entire camp, who was the CHAMP and at the top of his weight class,  who was going to fight someone who didn't do the camp, and was fighting UP a weight class.

I have always been a big Jon Jones supporter... but I would be FURIOUS if this happenned to me and I was on the card. To call is scorched earth wouldn't do it justice.

are u kidding..of course they had to cancel the card...it woul basically be fraud to keep the event going without that main even..yeah, they say card subject to change but thats subject to a reasonableness standard...there would have been people flying in or showing up still thinking jones was fighting

I respect you Joe and love watching you fight, I also unnastan where you are coming from.but you have shown here you don't understand the mind of a true champion. This is a man on maybe the best run we will ever see in MMA.He is not some barroom brawler willing to walk into the cage at a moment's notice against someone he has not trained for.Think Pacquiao, think Ali, think any of the greatest and best paid fighters you can think of, and add Jon Bones Jones to the list. They wouldn't take a last minute replacement, and neither will he.IF this had happened to you, maybe you would have been wise enough to blame the true culprits...All of that said, good luck in your next fight. I am always pulling for you.

I have all the respect in the world for Joe Lauzon and he's made some excellent points that have made me re-think my position, but isn't still Zuffa that chose to cancel the card? Jon Jones didn't decide to cancel the card, ZUFFA did. Did they really have to cancel the whole card? Maybe if the UFC didn't have a virtual monopoly over MMA fighters could negotiate clauses in their contracts to cover expenses in the event of a cancellation...

Thanks.I think one of Bones' biggest problems is his idea of being a role model and thinks he should behave a certain way that's not even truly him. And that's why he doesn't come across as genuine. He should just be himself. Kurt Cobain said it best:"It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you're not."

As far as the fight goes, I would have loved to see Jones take the fight but respect his decision because he feels he is doing what is best for him and his career. Doesn't mean I have to like it but I respect it. As far as the card goes, the UFC made the decision to cancel the card, not Jones. Jones should not be held responsible for the cancellation because one cancelled fight shouldn't cancel a card if the card is strong enough to move forward. Obviously, Dana didn't believe he could sell the other fights to the buying public. Are people forgetting that Jones helped the UFC in the past by taking the Shogun fight? How about when he decided to fight Machida at UFC 140 after people complained about Mir/Nog being the original main event and the UFC couldn't find someone else to take the slot.
