'Old Lion' Belfort: Jon Jones the greatest fighter of all time

source: The Underground

Inside MMA's Bas Rutten and Kenny Rice interviewed UFC 152 light heavyweight title challenger Vitor Belfort:

“It’s a journey, I accomplished a lot of things in my life. I accomplished the tournament, I fight two guys, I’m the youngest champion ever, I’m fighting the youngest champion in the new generation."

"I’m the old lion, he’s the young lion, but I’m hungry... I’m just so pleasured to fight a guy like Jon Jones, being the greatest fighter of all time. He’s improving the sport, he’s a young guy with a lot of abilities, so it’s such an honour for a guy like me, whose been around for 17 years to fight a guy like Jon Jones."

"Bro... we are old school guys... A lot of fighters today they are more into the sport, the new generation, they’re getting prepared, they’re studying their opponents. We are the type of fighters that adapted to fight. We’re ready to fight, tomorrow, in the gym. I used to fight in the Carlson Gracie time and we fight every day in the gym. So taking this fight in such short notice and going up a division, it’s an awesome journey in myself."

"I cannot judge anyone. Everyone knows how to deal with their careers, how to deal with the organisation. The way I deal with the organisation is that when they need me, I’ll be there. And that’s the way I do it. And I don’t criticise other people because nobody can decide better than yourself for making a decision."

"I’m not going to be here judging anybody, especially Jon Jones’ camp and himself. He fought all the champions; that guy isn’t scared of anyone and I know that for sure.”

If you don't think Jones is the GOAT, step into the Octagon and fight him!

LOL @ Looking "much more spectacular" against INFERIOR competition.Sorry, but looking like a ninja aginst Chris Leben isn't as impressive as OWNING Shogun on EVERY level, BREAKING HIM, and making him TAP TO STRIKES.Beating Rich Franklin is in NO WAY as impressive as leaving machida for dead in a pool of blood w/ a giant oozing vagina on his head.Anderson's victories against WORLD BEATERS like Travis Lutter and Patrick Cote just can't compare to beating the list of killer, recent former champions, and legends that JBJ has RAN THROUGH in such a short time.No beating a shriveled up post weight cutting to 185lbs Vitor is NOT as impressive as fighting a bigger, stronger, not sucked dry 205lbs VitorShit even Jon Bones Jones WORST and most boring fight is waaaaaaaaaay better than Anderson's "spectacular" performances against Thales leites and Damian Maia...two basically harmless fighters for Anderson.jon Jones would STOMP AQnderson horribly....and Anderson knows it.

What does ANY of this have to do with Anderson.JBJ is better than Anderson, has beaten FAR AND AWAY the more dangerous competition in a FAR more dangerous weight class.

@Laze: No dude Anderson's only complimenting Jones because he doesn't wanna get in the way of his fried Machida, when the time comes, when Anderson vanguishes GSP, he'll set his sights on Jones I guarantee you bro. Remember Anderson also said that BJ Penn's the greatest? Anderson's just that type of guy, he's totally humble.

Amazing how you bump your threads again and again. Most all Brazilians favor Fedor for GOAT, they understand the sport and have not been trolled to death by Dana with BS.JBJ is scary as hell, ask AS.Troll away

Unless it's GOAT discussion.

He's saying that comparing Anderson to Jones, SKILL-WISE, is like comparing Michael Jordan to Kwame Brown.Anderson wins through his skills, Jones wins through his physical gifts (height & reach advantage).

What fight were you watching? Evans wanted nothing to do with jones at all in that fight. It takes 2 to tango.

Probably, but after the UFC 151 fiasco he's gonna always have that asterisk in his legacy the fact that he TURNED DOWN A FIGHT, not to mention until he fights guys his size in heavyweight.
