Everyone was SUPER pissed at Anderson after the Maia fight, and even DFW said he would cut Anderson if he fought that way again.  Look at what time has healed.

After the spectacular Vitor KO, the Chael Sonnen comback triangle and the complete dismantling of Chael in the rematch, no one ever talks about Abu Dhabi and the Maia fight anymore.

If Jon Jones can stay on track, keep being the amazing fighter that he's shown himself to be inside the octagon in EVERY single fight he's ever had, and continue to improve at the staggering rate that he's shown so far, in 2 fights no one will talk about this cancelled fight.

The man is young, and he's made a mistake or two, but he's still got all the potential to go down in history as an all time great, if not THE all time great.

Anderson never did/said 1/20th of the things Jones did outside of the ring to make people dislike him as a person.

People posts once a week on the UG about DFW not coming through on his promose to "make ith up to the fans" for the joke that was AbuDabi. The Leites, Cote, and Maia fight all come to mind when AS fights. I did not get the 1st AS v Sonnen fight because of them shit AS pulls on occassion. Obviously I was bummed, but the decision was justified.I have several casual watching fans who.still have no interest in watching AS fight live if he is them main event on a week cards. They feel 100% because of his past actions he should not have them opportunity to main event. So I guess I don't understand the point of this thread. The answer is yes, many of us remember the BS AS caused, and OP is wrong about us all forgetting and forgiving. Had Andesron never pulled that shit his star would be much larger.

I didn't mean funny as in "funny haha". I mean funny as in ironic. No disrepect to Rogan at all.I guess I was just stating the obvious. He looks fit and has the creditals of a pro-fighter and isn't a pro-fighter.That is all.

you have serious reading comprehension issues.  you just admitted he wouldn't be as good ("dam near as good" as you put it) which is all i'm saying.  he wouldn't be running the table if he had a normal LHW reach.  "even with 7 inch shorter arms".  7 inches?  his reach is 9.5 inches greater than rashad.  10.5 greater than machida.  you clearly have never competed in anything physical.  yes, he'd still be a great fighter if you chopped 10 inches off his length, he just wouldn't be running the table like he does vs more experienced guys.  he can pull off subs that would be impossible for an average reach guy to do (the power guillotine vs machida).  and try the hand clasp swing around elbow strike he did with rashad with a friend, see if you can physically land that with your little dinosaur arms.  Or better yet ask two guys with fighting experience to do it.  he has the speed of a WW, and the reach of a..... well gee there isn't a weight class to accurately gauge his reach.  In fact there's only one area in all of sports that it can be compared to.  NBA CENTER.  .00000001% of the population.  Take away his monster wing span, and he's just another great LHW fighter NOT running the table.  Now you'll notice I didn't say "take away his quickness and he's just a...."  which would have been accurate too.  Quickness advantages are very common in weight classes.  Strength too.  Part of the game.  But the reach deal is from another planet and personally I hate that a guy with a .000000001% freakish physical advantage happens to be running the table vs guys more experienced, knowing the general public just thinks he's a fighting god without understanding the difference maker in his dominance.  He is NOT a better fighter than Machida, but his arms are 10.5 inches longer so history will mark him as superior

The difference IMO is that for the majority we all love Andy. Jones had a grip of haters before this whole fiasco. Now he has even more.

Only time will tell. It'd be dangerous to count on something like that when making such decisions or assuming how they'll go after the fact. It's not the same situation though. Some people still haven't forgiven Anderson for the Maia fight (the Leites fight wasn't too good either). But that was in the cage. It was bad but not as bad as pulling out of a card because it was too risky, especially with the card getting cancelled and the fighter knowing that. Besides, Jones wasn't exactly popular before that. When he was coming up he had a lot of support but as more people have seen how he conducts himself outside the cage more people have changed their minds and now don't care for him. It's not like this was his only incident. The DUI thing turned a lot of fans off and with all the other stuff more people are seeing Rashad's side in that whole ordeal and not caring for Jones in that either. Then add the Twitter drama, and it seems Jones would be lucky to come out of the drama as well as Anderson did.
