The usual road to becoming The Ultimate Fighters involves a stop at the opne tryouts.
Fighters are given a few minutes before UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva to show their striking and grappling skils.
Prospects making the cut are then interviewed by the show's producers, and furthered winnowed to the final 32.
Open fighter tryouts for "The Ultimate Fighter 17" are slated for Sept. 17 in Las Vegas, officials confirmed with MMAjunkie.com.
Palace Station Hotel & Casino plays host to the tryouts, which are open to fighters in the middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions.
The show is expected to tape and debut on FX in early 2013.
No coaches or other details have been confirmed for the show, which follows the upcoming "TUF 16," which debuts Sept. 14 on FX. "TUF 17" is expected to use the usual 32-man, single-elimination tournament format.
