Spike TV counter-programming Nelson with Nelson

source: mmamania.com

Spike TV is advertising its channel as "the only place you can actually see Roy Nelson fight" on Fri., Sept. 14, 2012. That may be true, but FX is the only place you can actually see him coach. Would you rather watch "Big Country" fight Kimbo Slice on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 -- or coach against Shane Carwin on TUF 16?

From the official release:

At 8:00 PM, Spike will present an encore telecast of Nelson's fight with Kimbo Slice from "The Ultimate Fighter 10" which was seen by a staggering 6.1 million viewers.

At 9:00 PM, the network will re-broadcast the "The Ultimate Fighter 10" finale fight card, including Nelson's triumphant victory over Brendan Schaub. The event also featured current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. Matt Hamill, Frankie Edgar vs. Matt Veach, and the controversial Kimbo Slice against Houston Alexander. The broadcast delivered 5.2 million viewers that evening, a record for a TUF finale.

How so? They have a contractual agreement that allows them to show programming. The UFC has done it to compete against Strikeforce and Bellator. It's done in every sport. It's not really a big deal. Nor is it that crummy. Just television. Like when you turn your TV on and two Bruce Willis movies are showing at the same time.

Man I'll give Kimbo this, he was actually engaging in the fight. That shit Houston did was like baffling, I've never seen anyone circle the ring for like 2 1/2 rounds throwing ONLY leg kicks. If I remember correctly he had finished someone previously in some other org by leg kicking the shit out of the guy and I assume he thought he could do it again vs Kimbo with his shitty knees.

Yall seem to have forgotten the Marquardt marathon on Spike the same weekend he was headlining UFC on Versus 4, ironically from which Nate was pulled for a TRT-malfunction.

Spike just appears to be the jealous/bitter ex girlfriend. Yea Dana and Co. arent exactly known for playing nice but I would have hoped Spike would take the high road. Also as a response to spikes question, I'd rather see Nelson coach because I just dont get excited about a homer simpson-esque punching bag.
