Soares: Silva's Nike deal now global

by Steph Daniels | source: bloodyelbow.com

I recently spoke with Silva's manager, Ed Soares, who addressed the subject.

It started off as Nike Brazil, but it has since been made a global deal. I don't think there's another mixed martial arts athlete on the planet that deserves that more than Anderson. He's one of the best athletes out there that fits that mold, the face of Nike. Look at all the people they've sponsored. People have compared Anderson as the Michael Jordan of MMA. The best of the best have always had some sort of affiliation with Nike, and I think the brand fits Anderson better than any other MMA athlete in the world.

Agree to both of you guys. And the call for this superfight will get even louder when Anderson demolishes Bonnar better than Jones. Also like Dana says, once Anderson's done with GSP he'll set his sights to Jones. Moreover since Anderson says he'll be fighting for another 6 years, the likelihood is high for both of these superfights happening in the next couple of years, then he'll continue on dominating 185 since its his natural weightclass, that's if the Jones superfight isn't for the belt (since Anderson-GSP fight could be at 180, there's also a chance Anderson-Jones would be at a catchweight, say, 195).

Now that is the fight I really want to see happen. It just seems to make a lot more sense for Silva to go up to LHW for a shot at JJ's belt than go down to 180lbs for a super fight with GSP. Silva has fought twice at LHW and completely dismantled Irvin and outclassed a former champion in Forest. I would almost argue that Silva is more dangerous at LHW with his speed advantage.I really don't buy the premise that they are best buddies now and there is no way they can possibly fight each other. I really think it comes down to Anderson's camp thinking GSP is an easier fight.

Nike probably saw how poorly Jones handled his short term replacement and the aftermath and decided to bump up Anderson's deal just in case Jones keeps up with the shenanigans. lol

This should have been done a long time ago. This is Anderson Silva we're talking about.

hopefully the jealousy out of this causes Jones to call out Silva.
