Jon Jones goes through the ESPN 'Carwash'

source: espn

When UFC Lighheavyweight champion Jon Jones turned down Chael Sonnen when the was offered as a replacement for an injured Dan Henderson just eight days before the subsequently cancelled UFC 151, he cited the difficulty of preparing for a new opponent given that five of the following eight days would be spent cutting weight and on media duties.

Some scoffed at the notion that media duties were a full time jo.

However, this behind the scenes video records Jones going through the EPSN "carwash," starting with a SportsCenter segment and going from show to show, and ending with SportsNation.

Jones answered a dizzying cascade of questions about his beard, bones, UFC President Dana White, his brothers, Saturday night's title challenger Vitor Belfort, and countless other topics.

And somewhere in there, he got a picture taken with the greatest wide receiver in NFL history Jerry Rice.

I'm not a fan of Jones' personally, but I think that when he just acts like himself and doesn't pull the new age, "I am blessed" overbearing nonsense, he comes off well. Rashad said that if he were to be himself rather than what he thinks people want him to be, he would actually be a nice, likeable guy and I tend to agree.

I chuckled at the Randy head on the board at the end.

He came off incredibly likeable in this. I think he really is a cool dude. He's not humble, but that's okay. He's a young lion who no one has been able to even touch really. He has one of the most exciting styles in the UFC. I think in some of his pre fight interviews, they sort of set him up to come off the way he does with the questions they ask. Just my $.02. I like Jon, and I think that it is awesome that we get to see him fight at such a high level. Hell, he hasn't even hit his prime yet. Imagine what he will be like years from now.

I'm starting to like Bones... he seems like he's becoming more comfortable with himself.

Tons of press work for Jon, and that's exactly why Dana loves him. The UFC is benefiting from every interview Bones does.

Love watching JJ fight, hate the haters, but I wish my long day consisted of getting my ass kissed by a bunch of mouth breathers and went from 1100 am to 430 pm
