Silva: Ultimate goal is to retire undefeated

"It was a request from Dana to come in and save UFC 153. It was an opportunity to give back to all the Brazilian fans for what they did to support me in my last fight.

"I believe I have more agility, more speed at this weight. I don't know about the power but I do believe I am more agile. Due to the short amount of time to train, it is easier to make 205 rather than to try to cut down to 185.

"You have to respect Stephan Bonnar. He is the reason why MMA and the UFC are where they are today. He has done a lot for the sport. He has to be respected and given a lot of credit.

"It's an individual sport so you always have to be improving and training at all times. I think that is the goal for every athlete and it is no different for me. I hope to continue my win streak and I can finish my career undefeated in the UFC."

I believe the discussion is about him being undefeated in the UFC. Ya he has a few loses, but is he really the same fighter now? How can u not even consider him in the GOAT discussion? Because he has a few loses years ago? That makes no sense considering what he has done in the UFC

Thank you:)Its quality over quantityI like Anderson too Gsp's level of competition has been much tougher, much harder though etcNo comparison really. Its funny,Some in this thread have made the argument that all of Anderson's opponents would beat Gsp's opponents etc Well.....many agree that Anderson's biggest win is Hendo......And Hendo has a loss to Jake Shields...who Gsp there goes

p.sOrcus,Also wanted to add,After Anderson crushed Vitor, somebody at the post fight presser, asked Anderson .......something along the lines of....How hard does Vitor really hit etcAnderson said that Vitor couldn't hit him half as hard as Shogun always would when they(Shogun and Anderson) use to train together etcAnderson and Shogun have extensive history etcI bet you there were times when Shogun would school Anderson and vice versa when Anderson would school ShogunAnderson KNOWS what Shogun is capable of. They both know each otherAnderson knows how hard Shogun can hit, and Shogun would hit him while they were just training etcIt would be much different in an actual fight - where Shogun would be trying to take Anderson's head off with full power shots I.e and with Shogun throwing at Anderson with bad intentions etcYou get the pictureIf Anderson and Shogun did fight, Anderson would be showing Shogun a lot more respect, then you are showing Shogun right now. I guarantee that

People were trying to say gap has fought the most elite comp. I was only pointing that there are a few of gsps opponenets that were not world beaters themselves.I didn't expect either of you two to grasp that concept though. If you want to bring litter up comparing their opponents should we ignore that gsp LOST to his TUF Challenger???Further, you cannot even mention Irvin/Forrest/Bonnar when comparing as gsp has NEVER tested himself up a division against anyone.

Yep, they are clearly better opponents then Travis Lutter, Patrick Cote, Thales Lietes, Damain Maia, James Irvin, Yushin Okami, Stephan Bonnar too

Rashad has the style to give Anderson troubleRashad sets up his takedowns very well with punchesIf Rashad fought the perfect fight he "could" absolutly beat AndersonI.e he would try to control Anderson on top, then would try to pound him out etcRashad has the power to clip Anderson too. You never knowThe thing for me is that Rashad's chin is too suspect though. Anderson would eventually get him IMOPlus Rashad doesn't have the cardio. Rashad gasses himself out trying to out wrestle opponentsRegarding Shogun,The Shogun who fought Machida would give Anderson lots of trouble IMOShogun is a very dangerous and very capable striker, but Shogun has always been a grapple at heart If Shogun were losing the stand up, he would take Anderson down, and would pound him out. Shogun's ground and pound is too ferocious. The difference is Shogun's striking is good enough to threaten Anderson.Plus Shogun has the chin to take shots to deliver his own more powerful punches etcShogun would also switch it up, and would go for takedowns or kick Anderson's legs out etcTo keep Anderson off blanace etc. Shogun has flawless yet brutal kicks, and they could be a huge factorShogun has a nasty clinch too, so he wouldn't be at a disadvantage thereI.e Shogun was able to control Rampage and Vera in the clinch ,while going to town on them with knees etc. Those were two big LHWs who Shogun controlled. Shogun also dominated Hendo and Machida in the clinch. Shogun understands leverage better then anyone.Shogun's clinch game is so under rated. Shogun's clinch game is very solid and is very technically sound. If anything Shogun would have the advantage in the clinch etcShogun has the BIG KO power to keep Amderson worried at all times as well Anderson is a phenomenal fighter. One of the best ever, but Shogun is no slouch either Shogun would beat him IMO

Yes I think both of them would do well in MW. Your contenders are Munoz, boetsch, Wiedman, and Bisping. I could see Ellenberg, Condit and Diaz putting a beating on any of these guys.
