How Fight Odds Work

Unlike a spread on a football game where one team is getting a certain amount of points (ex. Saints +7), in MMA fights the line on the game is what's called a money line.
Vitor Belfort +500
Jon Jones -800

In this fight, Jones would be the favorite and at -800 it means for every $8.00 you bet, you will win $1 if he wins the fight. So if you bet $800 on Jones and he wins, you'd profit $100. If Jones were to lose though, you'd lose the full $800.

If you were to bet on Belfort at +500, you would win $5.00 for every $1 you bet. So if you bet $100 on Belfort and he wins the fight, you will profit $500. If Belfort were to lose the fight, you'd lose your original $100 bet.

Depending on how people are betting on the fights, the odds will shift from the moment they open up right up until the night of the fight.

I put 35 on Bonnar, and parlayed 20 on Erick Silva, Maldonado and Maia. We'll see. Great night of fights regardless, though it's 3AM here, not gonna sit up any longer, watching the rest tomorrow. Enjoy!

So that would be -131 100/1.31 = 76.34$ tells you what you win not what you're returned.I'm betting 29.45$ I don't want to have to minus my bet to see what I win. An extra unnecessary step IMOPlus minus works best. Why can't I post a plus sign phone?

You'd multiply your bet amount by 1.725. If you bet 100 USD, you receive 100 * 1.725 = 172.5 USD in return.It's obviously the best method!

Fuck that. Plus minus makes sense this decimal shit I don't get. Example (plus 250) times your bet by 2.5 equals what you win. (-250) divide your bet by 2.5 equals what you win. Pretty simple.What the he'll is 1.725 or what ever.

Never was much of a bettor but I think Minotauro is a bit overpriced. Yeah, he had Mir rocked on the feet but he has slowed down considerably in later years and his takedowns were never that strong to begin with. He will always be dangerous on the ground and his boxing is quite good despite his declining hand speed but Herman has a really good shot against an aging legend here. But since I am not betting on it I just root for Big Nog. Other than that Fitch seems like a good bet. He is a machine and the perfect guy to squash the high hopes of up-and-comers.
