'TUF' ratings hit all-time low in season 16

by Tristen Critchfield | source: sherdog.com

The increase in ratings was only temporary.

The fifth episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 16” drew an average of 624,000 viewers to FX on Friday night, the smallest audience since the reality series began in 2005. Industry sources confirmed the ratings with Sherdog.com on Monday.

The season’s previous low came Sept. 28, when 775,000 viewers tuned in for Episode 3. Last week, ratings reached a high-water mark of 1.1 million viewers as the show was bolstered by the UFC on FX 5 broadcast that preceded it. Overall, “TUF 16” is averaging 864,000 viewers through five episodes.

What they need is a sing off if it is tied after 2 rounds

I'm actually excited for Sonnen/Jones. That should be pure entertainment.

I actually prefer the smashes to the current US version, and preferred the TUF brazil to the last series..

FOREVER!!!!! (or until they die)Because even if they stop the series for awhile...wait long enough and people will strangely miss it and want to see it again...it's almost like clockwork.

Now Zuffa introduces Jones vs Sonnen to pick the ratings up. Talk about scraping the bottom of the trash can to make a four course meal. This is the worse thing the UFC has done, and there has been plenty.

People like you (angry non talented haters) started training MMA to make money. They already seem to have been born with tattoos and crazy drug addiction stories so they dye their hair purple and wear the mandatory mohawk. couple more tattoos and UFC gear and their think they are pretty tough. Turns out most are just assholes and can't really fight. TALENT is the key here.

Ouch but this is pretty much it. I quit when I heard one of the cast cry about money and having to make it, then he fought afraid. I have nothing to add though, you got it right.

Yeah but how many "casual fans" do you really know? Because if you don't actually know any you are just speculating. I would think if you were a casual fan, you'd probably know.the TUF fighters more.than the guys who fight Undercard PPVs. Because casuals should watch the TUF, FX and Fuel shows, and probably very little PPV orders, if any. But I'm just speculating... It seems people either like this sport or not. the casual fans that just tune in because its UFC probably don't care who the guys are anyways, they just want to watch a fight.
