Bisping & Belfort don't know source of Bisping vs. Belfort rumors

source: The Underground

Twitter is overflowing with rumors that Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort will fight in the co-main event of UFC 156.

UFC 156 is scheduled to take place in Brazil on 19 January 2013. The city has not been determined, but Florianópolis, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo are under consideration.

Bisping vs. Belfort would be a co-main, with UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar already announced.

Bisping is 5-1 record in his last six fights, with wins over Dan Miller, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Jorge Rivera, Jason Miller and Brian Stann. His sole loss was a decision to Chael Sonnen in January.

Belfort 7-2 in his last 9 fights, with wins including Matt Lindland, Rich Franklin, Yoshihiro Akiyama, and Anthony Johnson. Both losses were in title shots - UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

However, both fighters expressed a degree of bewilderment about the rumors, via twitter:

Vitor Belfort@vitorbelfort
I don't have anything confirmed about fighting Bisping. It's all rumors. When I know about it will let you guys know.

Mmath really wasnt my point. The post was a response to the implication that Vitor wasn't winning fights.

The old victor Belfort who's 131 years old takes it I think

Bisping by superior heart.I think he can grind Vitor down and win a decision.I like Vitor, but he does have a tendency to fold in fights that aren't going his way. When was the last time he ever came back in a fight?Plus, since he's a southpaw, Bisping gets to actually circle to his natural side (the same movement that got him impaled by Hendo.)

MMA math is bogus and Hendo went into the fight with Vitor with the idea of wrestlefuck (because of Belford's power IMO) while he went into the fight with Bisping having NO respect for his power at all looking to KHTFO.IMO Vitor likewise will have no respect for Bisping's power BTW.Such a good match up! I hope it's made. I think we got the data very early or it was just false.

Belfort last two losses are to Bones and Anderson. It's not like he's on a slide or something. At least he went to a decision against Henderson.

Pretty much. He trains hard, is young, and is currently winning fights, all unlike vitor.I guess they're not even fighting but if they do bisping in a mayhem-easy fight

When have you seen Bisping go down that easily? You need a Dan Henderson style attack to KO Bisping, and Belfort doesn't have that, he just goes for one big shot, but is too hesitant now imo.
