Bisping vs. Belfort official to headline Jan. 19th UFC event in Brazil

The UFC early Saturday announced a 12-fight card in Brazil for Jan. 19, though the host city and venue are still to be determined and, the UFC said, will be announced soon. The four-fight main card is likely to air on either FX or FUEL TV.

Headlining the event will be a middleweight bout between recent light heavyweight title challenger and former middleweight title challenger Vitor Belfort (21-10 MMA, 10-6 UFC) and Michael Bisping (23-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC).

In the co-main event, C.B. Dollaway (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) returns for the first time since a May win over Jason "Mayhem" Miller and takes on Daniel Sarafian (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who reached the finals of the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil," but couldn't fight due to a training injury. He'll make his official UFC debut in front of his home country after recently getting clearance to begin training again.

Totally agree. Bisping has had many chances to get to the top. His fights against chael and stann were both impressive but it is still just one good win against a top 10 guy. He's not deserving right now but I think the win over Vitor plus his name recognition puts him slightly over the weidman/botsch winner for contender status. That being said depending on when Anderson returns to mw those winners may still have to face off to determine the actually clear cut contender. (belcher is in there also)

His best win is fringe contender Brian Stann. I think he needs this W and his argument becomes as good as anyone elses and he will get his shot. If Bisping loses the Weidman vs Boetsch winner probably gets the shot. Either way I am ok with that. Bisping is a good fighter but has routinely come up short in the biggest situations.

Hey if he wins then Bisping then he has two top 10 wins in a row and it makes it damn hard to deny him a title shot. If he loses it is yet another situation where he just never gets over that hurdle.

Bisping wins via UD. I wouldn't be surprised if Vitor tries to wrestle him down quite a bit.

The only time Anderson is willing to move up in weight is pretty much to gym level fighters, yet he's putting the pressure on GSP to do it coming off an 18 month layoff against elite competition. If Anderson wants the fight he should be going down to 177 or 178

GSP isn't going to come off of his first fight after knee surgery and be ready to move up 15 pounds in weight in less then 6 months. He's going to need til the end of 2013 at least to put on the size needed to make a move in Middleweight. This isn't like boxers moving between divisions 6 or 7 pounds apart, this is a 15 pound gap and a pretty noticeable gap

I mostly disagree. I think timing would have Anderson not fighting until April at the earliest regardless. A fight with bones would be too far off, timing doesn't work out, gsp would line up perfectly with that if he goes through condit and wants to make that fight. If and it's a big if gsp/Anderson happens then I think weidman/botsch vs bisping/Vitor would be the number one contender fight. If gsp turns down the fight Anderson will need an opponent. He will likely take bisping if he wins against Vitor, if Vitor wins likely the botsch/weidman winner would have to be the only other option.

If Bisping beats Vitor they aint gonna put him against Wediman, theyll put him against Anderson straight away. GSP is coming off knee surgery and even if an Anderson fight happens it won't be til then end of 2013. If WEidman runs through Boetsch they could put him with Anderson too
