Cung Le crushes Rich Franklin in the first

In the main event of UFC on FUEL 6, former UFC Lightheavyweight Rich Franklin dropped down to Middleweight to face San Shou wizard Cung Le.

Referee Marc Goddard signalled the start of the bout, with both fighters coming out in an orthodox stance. Cung Le is reknowned for switching stances and otherwise thowing devastating shots from unorthodox directions.

Franklin felt Le out cautiously with jabs. Le responded in kind with low kicks.

Franklin appeared to be confident and stayed in the pocket with Le, throwing combinations, which were mostly blocked.

Suddenly Le, standing southpaw, checked a left middle kick and countered with a lead hooking overhand right that sent Franklin to the mat, completely unconscious.

"He was loading up and looking for me to kick (so he could] attack me with punches)," said Le. "I came in, I waited for him to punch and I came in with the overhand right and caught him.

Thank you Lord."

And thus a card that started with seven decisions in a row ended with a ferocious bang, and an extra $40,000 KO of the Night bonus for Cung Le.

That's what happens when you decide to strike with one of the best strikers in MMA.

Franklin got knocked the fuck out.I'm thinking he'll be announcing his retirement in the very near future.

It looked to me like Rich was winning the striking until he got dropped.I've never seen him get dropped like that before, even with knees from Anderson Silva.

I think when people say that Franklin is a legend, what they mean is that he has been a staple part of the UFC for a long time. He may not be in the P4P or GOAT rankings but he is a fighter that has fought many times under the UFC banner and is well known within the MMA community. Under those parameters which I believe most people sub-consciously share, then yes, he is a legend.

"Yeah, rich has ONLY beaten 2 legends." You have to beat THREE to get my approval." blah blah blah. Rich was old when he fought chuck, too -at the tail end of his career as well. Rich beat wanderlei TWICE. Rich isn't this new breed of fighter, he is a part of the wanderlei and liddell class of fighters. And you forgot Yushin Okami, Ken Shamrock, and Evan tanner to his list of wins. Quit hatin, dude. All of his losses have been to the best fighters in the world as well, and he lost a CLOSE fight to Hendo.

This guy nailed it. And calling someone overrated isn't saying they suck. Franklin is a damn good fighter, but this UFC drive to get people calling him a legend is ridiculous.
