Bisping: I think fans are warming to me, a little

by Shaun Al-Shatti | source: mmafighting

It's because of this old-school ‘anywhere, anytime' attitude, plus his open mockery of TRT, that Michael Bisping has begun to notice a shift in public perception that can only properly be described as a minor miracle. Bisping, long one of the most hated men in the sport, still hears his fair share of boos, however these days they're not quite as overpowering as they used to be.

"I like to play with it and say I'm hated everywhere I go," said Bisping with a smile on The MMA Hour. "But to be honest, that isn't the case. I think you get a lot of people together, and there's a pantomime effect, the ol' boo or whatever. But generally, for the most part my interactions with the UFC fans, they're always positive.

"Certainly on Twitter, everyday I almost get 20 messages with people saying, ‘You know, I used to absolutely hate your guts, and now you're one of my favorite fighters.' So that's nice. Obviously it's always nice to be appreciated. But it's not necessarily anything I've consciously done or changed. I think maybe, just over time, people are warming a little. Who knows?"

17 fights in the UFC. He should be ashamed and you should be ashamed for allowing yourselves to be fooled and strung along. He has as many fights in the UFC than Jon Jones has wins in his entire career and look what Jones has accomplished. THAT is a wrap folks.

Great point. And I like his attitude. He doesn't care if he gets booed, he's here to fight no matter what. I love guys that fight for the fans too, but I respect both perspectives.

I like Bisping's interviews. I guess because I have that kind of sense of humor. I really don't care one way or the other if he wins or loses. Promotions need bad guys. You need guys like Kos and the Count. You want the audience polarized for a fight.

Nah. Best British product, sure. Substance, no. At least Lee Murray didn't need 17 fights to fight a top fighter like Anderson Silva. He wanted to best around IMMEDIATELY and not need a score of fights. Can't use terms of accomplishment since there's never been a British UFC champ, but there is some legit talent.  If you look past and through the marketing you realize there are many British fighters that are better in terms of skill than Bisping. They would accomplish WAAAAAAAAAAY more with 17 fights in the UFC.
