BJ Penn: No one mentions me with the GOATs anymore

source: The Underground Blog

During the UFC on Fox 5 media call, most of the questions were directed at legend BJ Penn.

Karyn Bryant from MMA Heat asked Penn if he thinks about his legacy.

He does.

"I was telling Dana, I watch all these interviews, said Penn. "No one says my name in the greatest fighters anymore and it's my fault. I told Dana I have a real problem with that."

It is not true. There are countless fans and fighters who number BJ Penn as among the greatest of all time in MMA. For them, BJ had kind words.

"I want to thank all those people even Benson Henderson always gives me props. I want to be known as one of the best. I have some things left to accomplish."

Penn's final question was about how GSP is handling the potential superfight with Anderson Silva.

"That fight is for George," said Penn. "I don't want to say much on that. Everybody on this call knows what BJ would do."

Once. If you think Edgar won that first fight you are out of your fucking mind. Thus the immediate rematch.

Frankie Edgar, a smaller guy who was fighting a weight class above, beat him twice

Why do people constantly refer to BJ as a lightweight? Yes, he can and does make the cut. But he's in the gray zone between LW and WW, and that's why he holds his own in both.

The LW division was created for Penn. Jens happened and Uno happened, and on 2 occasions BJ failed to grab the belt that was on a silver platter for him.   BJ SHOULD be the best that ever fought: amazing BJJ, top MMA boxer, insane flexibility, iron chin, top tier takedown defense, fearless, brass nalls motherfucker.  But it didn't turn out that way. He's still an amazing fighter with an interesting career, but unfortunately, not one of the GOAT. After he clowns this Rory kid, expect some GOAT talk
