White unsure of Guillard's future in UFC

"You're asking me where he is, I don't know, as far as being cut. We'll talk to the boys and see," UFC President Dana White told media members about Guillard following the UFC 155 post-fight press conference on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas.

Guillard has been with the UFC since his appearance on TUF 2, going 11-8 inside the Octagon dating back to 2005. The Louisiana native has been inconsistent in the cage, but he is best known for his tremendous knockout abilities, which he has showcased on several occasions.

In his most recent defeat to Varner at UFC 155 last month, Guillard did not fight with the same all-out, in-your-face style he usually brings to the cage - which was somewhat of a letdown to White.

"If you ever notice, when Melvin Guillard comes out with that explosive, tries to go after you and knock you out [mentality], he wins more fights than he loses," White said. "When he has that sit back and wait kind of style, he's just not as effective as he is when he lets it all go."

Davis said "Melvin told me how he greases. He told me he will rub vaseline on his body the night before a fight and sleep with it all over his body. Then towel off in the morning. But by then it is in his poors and he it comes out when he sweats during the fight."

Love Guillards fighting style, but dislike his attitude sometimes. Being from La, some of us tend to have that attitude unfortunately. Some don't ei Cormier, Poirier, and the one and only Pat Barry of course. That said, I don't think guillard should be cut just yet. I mean Dana's given fan favorites multiple oppurtunities. Win or lose, Melvin's a talent and I hope to see him in the cage again.APS

Much respect for not being biased. I'm the opposite, American but I fucking love Bisping. VTFU later

I don't particularly like him, but this is a fair point. A win over him still carries some weight IMHO.

No he lost 4 and had 2 dominant victories after. If he almost lost 5 that would mean he would have been losing the 5th then pulled off the win. Derp, partner

He already left Jacksons a year ago, and his most exciting wins and finishes were when he was still with them. Maybe Dana should keep him if he agrees to go back to the camp that gave him the most success.

Did you just ask how someone can almost lose 5 in a row and then go on to tell me he lost 4 in a row? Well, the answer to your difficult query would be that 4 is almost 5. Hope that helps, partner.

Thanks for the insight. Is Melvin's day to day persona any different than the one he's shown since being in the UFC? If so is it for the better or the worse?
